Summary
For Linus, this has never been a serious topic. These were nothing more than diets that he never had the courage to fully go through. It never was something troubling or problematic. Probably because he had the chance that it never went far enough to become something actually very serious and troubling and hold a more worrisome place in his life.
But the early warning signs were there, they always were.
It was a ticking bomb.
And now it just exploded.
(Or, Linus Baker has gained weight and he falls back into some unhealthy habits.)

Jon looked down, not even noticing that he had trailed off as he stared at what fell from his hands when he moved. Small, tiny white objects, less than the size of one of his knuckles, soft and bulbous. They wriggled and squirmed on his desk, curling in on themselves and writhing on the wood.
It took Jon less than a second to process what he was looking at, and even less to understand why the sensation in his hand was so familiar.
Worms. Small white worms.

"Hello, Jon." A faint static starts buzzing next to Jon’s ears. He flinches, attempting to put down the statement for just a moment. But he finds himself unable to, completely frozen in place. The next words slither out of his mouth involuntarily, leaving behind the taste of rot, and Jon feels ill.
He doesn’t hear the front door opening and shutting once again, nor the sound of the old staircase groaning under the weight of someone climbing up it. He is too focused on the static, the words, and the feeling of being trapped in his own body as something horrible unfolds in front of his eyes.
“Jon, have you seen my coat?"

“No, I—” Jon shifted heavily to one elbow and disentangled his other hand from the sheets, using it to grasp across the empty space between them. His eyes were wide and his voice was unusually thick. “Could you— I want—”
“Oh!”
Martin blushed at the misunderstanding. He kicked off his shoes, hurried his legs up onto the bed, and scooched over to join him under the covers.
“Right, of course. I’m here. I've got you.”

Long after they arrive Somewhere Else, Jon is laid up in bed suffering from the consequences of being dethroned as Pupil of the Eye, and gets thoroughly snuggled about it. Martin manages to say a few words about his own feelings and fears, and also gets snuggled.

Martin turned back around and started cleaning the mug again, waiting for Jon to inevitably snap back at him. Jon was as hard-headed and stubborn as they come, and Martin was itching to have an angry back and forth with the man. However, when he was done washing and drying the mug he realized that Jon hadn’t said anything.
Or…
Martin wakes up in a bad mood and is itching for a fight. Thinking Jon is the perfect person to start a verbal sparring match with, Martin tries to pick a fight with him, however things don’t go to plan when Jon’s reaction is not what Martin was anticipating.
It doesn't stay sad, don’t worry!
