A rewrite of the game Into the Pit, following one theory I got while first playing it: the Yellow Rabbit does not take the father's place, but their souls merely swap due to ballpit logic.

If Sugarfly managed to escape without wings, what could Pavlova accomplish with his?
She knows he is bound to the garden with no true way of leaving, yet the thought festers inside her mind. It grows until reason collapses beneath the weight of her fear. And in her frenzy, she does the unthinkable, she rips Pavlova’s wings away.

[ He clawed at the ground until his hand met the muddy grass. He dragged himself up, staring at the waterfall. The sound of rushing water and rain against tin filled his mind again. He sat there, his gasps for air lessening as the adrenalin wore off. The water rose and retreated at his feet, a rise then a fall, a rise then a fall. With another rise, his basket washed up on the shore. The leaves had been dislodged from their tightly woven pattern and were now floating amongst the plunge.
