Summary
It is without a doubt that Dream and George really do want to see each other to the point of desperation. COVID-19 seems not to be letting down at all, further insisting the travel ban for the next year or two, which means they will not meet for a long long time.
That is, unless, they plan a marriage for the visa, and marriage for the visa technically counts as marriage fraud: a five-year felony. They've joked about it quite a few times, but with the final conclusion that they'll never meet without it, the suggestion is very tempting.
But is it really all just for the visa? The lines are too blurry to tell.

When he moved away I’m not sure what happened, but I never heard from him again. We did everything together, got into a lot of trouble,” George chuckles under his breath. “He was probably my best friend.”
“Shit,” Sapnap says, “I’m sorry about that dude. I know these guys probably won’t be quite the same, but I can ask them if you can come to our next practice, I’m sure they’d be okay with it. What do you say?”
George gets more than he bargained for out of a midterm partnership, and he comes to realize that as hard of a pill as it is to swallow, people change.

George stared straight into his eyes, a light going off in them that signaled his intense disapproval of Clay's condescending tone. The boy leaned back in his seat but didn't relax. After a single moment, the dark eyes discarded him.

Everyone loves Clay... everyone, that is, except for the sarcastic, edgy guy in the third row of Clay's English Language class.Clay has always enjoyed a challenge, but he never thought that it would be so hard to get someone to notice him.
George has always enjoyed staying away from people like Clay, but he never thought that it would be so hard to ignore him.
It will be quite a battle of the wills (or pills), and it will change their lives forever.
