Jason Todd has spent the bulk of the last seven years imprisoned, insane, dead, or wishing he was. For the first time since he chased Joker into Arkham, his life is standing still. Things are (weirdly) good with Bruce. Roy is amazing. Joker is dead. So, there's no time like the present to upend it all and return to the city that broke him in the first place. Sure, Gotham's an unmapped minefield of his worst triggers, a vicious hellhole with a quick temper and a wicked mean streak, but she's Jason's hellhole. And if he's obscenely, unreasonably lucky, he might come out of it with a home, a family, and a chance to be a hero again.
That's worth the risk. Right?
(This works as a direct sequel to You Wouldn't Even Recognize Me Anymore and Can I Help You Not To Hurt Anymore? You'll probably have a better time if you read those first, especially the former, but I won't tell you how to live your life.)

For the record, Jason had tried not to take the bait.
For the record, Roy was holding an open lighter to the edge of what Jason had been working towards since before he even finished scrubbing the grave dirt out from under his fingernails. But when Jason opened his mouth to put a stop to it, he couldn’t bring himself to do anything but thank Roy for the pleasure, for the warmth of the fire, for the chance to burn along with him.
For the record, he’d failed the mission.
Again.
Jason Todd goes to a local dive bar looking to forget the constant pressure of planning how to bring Gotham’s drug trade under the Red Hood’s control and kill the Joker in one fell swoop. He finds Roy Harper instead.

Mera’s trust and affection, both exceptionally rare commodities, lie with you more than anyone else on Earth. And Batman,” Barry didn’t miss the way Superman spit the name out like poison, “thinks of you like a son. If I kill you, I martyr you.”
It's been a year now since they killed Superman. A year since he took two of Barry's
onlyclosest friends with him. A year since Barry last saw the closest thing he still has to family.It's been a bad year.
By the time Bruce bothers to check in, it's almost too late.

Sometimes, when Tim was curled sleepily into his chest or padding around their apartment without a shirt on, Jason stared at the expanse of pale, largely unblemished skin and a wave of emotions crested over him. It wasn’t like he wanted it to happen, but these days, he had very little say in what he felt.
A character study about how Jason and Tim's differing trauma divides them, and how Jason reconciles anger, jealousy, resentment, and hurt with the love that underlies it all.
