Summary
It had started in the most absurd way possible; humoring the Oni despite the soaking rain. Now it had grown into an emerging incident Ayato needed to think through before it became unmanageable.
Between a war-torn nation and violent power grabs between clans, Kamisato Ayato finds himself becoming attached to a certain wild spirited Oni. He can only blame himself for returning to Ritou often enough to form the growing unexpected bond between them, but he didn't expect Itto's personality to mesh so well with his own sadistic urges upon their meeting.
So much changed right under his nose. Those blindspots would get them both killed if Ayato wasn't careful. Pursuit of desire may cloud more than only his judgment in the end.

he lets illumi tell him anyway. he lets illumi talk, because he cares about what illumi has to say. even if it’s silly, even if it’s just inane observations. his sweetheart has spend hours, laying on the floor, and putting his little story in order to tell to hisoka. to participate in the conversation like an equal. illumi is incapable of nuance. he cannot make jokes, and he struggles to understand them. his favorite form of narrative are boring biographies, with many dates and facts, and historical texts with long-winded words. but hisoka listens to illumi’s story, because to not listen to it would be the kind of violence he is incapable of inflicting on his beloved.

Hundreds of years ago, the abyss was sealed by one of The Seven, the archmages who ruled over Teyvat during the time when magic flourished in society. That event put an end to the terrors of the abyss and the war that had ravaged the land. So it was told. However, for a young child named Ajax, the terror of the abyss was not over. He fell through the cracks and was swallowed whole. What the abyss spat back out was neither a young boy, nor a human. It was something twisted and deadly, with a craving for human blood: Tartaglia.
Having lost faith in humanity, and having lost his own humanity, Tartaglia encounters a being who, despite not being entirely human himself, reminds Tartaglia that he doesn't have to be a monster. Not if even only one person sees him as something more.
