Note: This is set in an AU where Kai was kidnapped at a young age by Chen, and raised alongside Skylor. He’s recovering from injuries from his near death after he pushed Nya away from Chen and melted the staff with his bare hands. The ninja have welcomed him to the ship, but he’s a scarred man, and doesn’t trust anyone as far as he can throw em.

Summary
The city of Ninjago is protected by the six ninja: Green, Red, Blue, Gray, Black, and White. Kai loves working as the Red Ninja, and honors the bonds he's formed with his teammates more than anything else. Things start to get complicated after he accidentally discovers Blue's identity- and, after he realizes Blue doesn't recognize him, a little awkward as well. Along with all of this, a new criminal organization on the rise is pushing the strength of the ninja's bonds, threatening them to fall apart.
So uh basically ninjago is gotham now and miraculous ladybug-inspired identity hiding hijinks ensue. (ok hand emoji)

Cole seemed pretty optimistic in the beginning (or maybe he just thought the new guy was cute, Jay wasn’t sure), but he was… less so. He might have thought it was just because he hadn’t anticipated a new teammate coming into the picture in the first place, but that wasn’t the issue. The dude was weird, plain and simple. Cole had scolded him for saying that in the beginning, but since then even he’d grown to agree.
