Summary
It was easy for the media to label them rivals—the best up-and-coming players at Real Madrid and Juventus. Nevermind that Yusuf "Joe" Al-Kaysani was Dutch and had actually started his career with Ajax in his home country. The media seemed eager to pit Nicolò "Nicky" di Genova's quiet, more reserved nature against Joe's flamboyant exuberance.
However, time doesn't stop for even the best players and old blood needs to make way for the new. Joe's contract gets sold to Liverpool in the middle of one season and Nicky follows a year and a half later. Suddenly the "bitter rivals" are teammates.

There’s a beat and then Phil says, “Clint, you don’t have anything to prove.”
And that stings, because, “If you think I’m doing this to prove anything to anyone, then you don’t know me half as well as I thought you did.” He hears Phil sigh on the other end of the comm. “Besides,” Clint tells him, “I’ll have back-up. I’ll have Barnes. Hawkeye out.” He reaches up and clicks off the comm, cutting off Phil’s continued objection mid-word.
Eight days these assholes have had Barnes and he’s not going to let them keep him for another hour, much less another day. He doesn’t have anything to prove, but he sure as hell isn’t going to give anyone any reason to question his actions, either.
