Summary

This story starts five years later, when Oliver and his fiancée go to a concert in the lavish opera hall of Versailles and suddenly Oliver recognizes the pianist as the young man whom he had waited for at midnight, but who never showed up.
“Hello,” Elio said again, this time in English, and Oliver’s heart jolted back to beating. Yes, it was him, alive and well and breathing. His hair was less wind-blown and his shoulders and arms more filled out compared with the string limbs of that summer, but the softness of youth still lingered on his face.
