Summary
Keith and Lance's lives after the war, told from the past and the present. Presently, Keith and Lance are married and are professors at Michigan State University. Their lives have taken a gentle lull since war's end, but after an incident on a humanitarian mission leaves Lance shaken, old fears come creeping back that disrupt the peace they have so earnestly and carefully crafted together.
In the past, Lance is trying to reckon with what the war has done to him. Despite freeing the universe, Lance is left feeling empty and muddled with fears he never thought he would have to deal with. Amid trying to adjust to feeling like his life is turning completely upside down, he finds Keith in the center of it all. And something unexpectedly beautiful happens at a time where he scarcely could find anything to call beautiful.
