Keith and Lance were part of a different kingdom, pulled apart, unable to be together, though they were childhood friends until at 13 years old when they were ripped away from each other. With his emotions spiraling out of control, Keith went to the only thing he could trust, music. He wrote dozens of songs about his feelings for Lance, and how he wished they didn't have to be apart. When he was 16, one of his friends stumbled upon his music, reading it not realizing it was about Keith's deep feelings for a childhood friend that were never properly expressed. He urged Keith to publish them, and so he did, hoping that maybe, Lance would be somewhere out there, listening. Being the prince of the galran empire and all, he became famous for his music quick, he went on tours, and made even more music, some about his life as the prince, while others were about longing to see Lance again, his fans all speculated about who the music may be for, and suddenly one fan dug up some images of them as children, sent a letter to Lance, begging him to go to one of Keith's concerts, and so he did, and once again..they were together.

Prince Keith of Marmora is known for being easy. After the big fiasco of the kingdom finding out both the princes were gay, Keith saw no need to hide who he was anymore; this led to him sleeping with whatever man he desired.
What he was unaware of, though, was that Lance, his right-hand man and childhood friend, was desperately and hopelessly in love with him. But after seeing the prince blatantly show no interest in him time and time again, he starts to pull away from his best friend.

Lance had always imagined his perfect wedding. He dreamt about meeting "The One" in a ‘love at first sight’ scenario. Perhaps they would meet on a train during rush hour when it was standing room only. Maybe the train would jolt and Lance would fall into their arms or they would fall into his. They would both apologise profusely, of course. Their ‘sorrys’ would be spoken at the exact same time, just as they made eye contact with each other unable to look away. Then they’d blush and giggle nervously. He’d extend his hand out to them with a confident, “Lance”, and they would smile, a genuine smile and take his hand and say…

Lance falls quiet, and Keith jolts when a wet droplet falls onto the top of his hand. Keith glances down at Lance and shifts his hand to lace with Lance’s, “I believe you, Lance,” Keith hears Lance inhale sharply and turn his face against Keith’s shoulder, a dampness soaking the linen of his shirt.
“I’m sorry,” Keith whispers, “I’m sorry that you had,” he pauses, a weight to his words, “to pick me to get away from him.”
At this, Lance pulls back, his face slightly puffy and his eyes brimming with tears, “I’m not.”
Crown Prince Keith never saw himself as much more than a soldier with a royal title. He rarely envisioned himself as a prince, let alone a ruler of his kingdom. And he most certainly never expected to be a hero for his blue-eyed consort.
