He reaches down and pulls the bourbon glass out from between her open legs, and takes a drink, not missing the flutter of her pulse in her neck as his arm glides over her thigh. "You sure you're okay with seeing me every time you look at your kid? I mean, we don't exactly get along."
"Yeah, but I believe your tragic personality flaws are things that can be parented out." Her eyes flick down to his hand then back up at him. "You gonna get me a new drink, or what?"

Ok but hear me out:A scenario in which John and Bucky are already in a relationship and things are going great for a while, but Bob loses control of the void again and John gets caught up in it. There, he sees Bucky with Steve, happy, smiling, and kissing, and when Bucky sees John, he says:
"Did you really think I loved you? You're nothing. Just a substitute. Steve is a real man, and you? You'll never be enough." Obviously, it's a hallucination in which the void uses John's insecurities to torture him, and he knows that Bucky would never say something like that to him. Just as Eddie starts to melt back into it, the phone buzzes again. Just as loud. Just as fucking insistent.
Eddie rips his mouth away with a frustrated sound, glaring down at where the phone is tucked away. “Seriously?”
Buck cringes as the buzzing continues. “Sorry. I’ll turn it off.”
He reaches into his pocket, but by the time it’s out, the call has timed out. Buck’s finger goes to hover over the lock button to shut the device off, but then the screen lights up again. Same buzzing. Same ringtone. This time, Tommy’s face and name flash brightly on the screen.
Eddie’s jaw clenches, hand still tightly fisted in Buck’s hair. “Answer it.” He says before he can stop himself.
Buck's head snaps up to look at him, eyes frantic and expression puzzled. “W-what? Now?”
“Buck,” Eddie says, voice firm and insistent, leaning in to ghost a kiss along Buck’s cheek. “Answer the phone.”

You’d think Buck feels feverish because of the fact they're surrounded by literal fire and the building's coming down around them. Not at all. That barely even registers to him. It actually has everything to do with the way Ravi is looking at him. His expression is so soft and open, eyes carefully watching Buck's face for his reaction to how close they still are. Buck's sure he's making the same face, if not even more love-struck. His hand on Ravi's face-no, his mask!- feels so...intimate, despite the multiple layers of clothes and equipment separating their skin.
He's thinking about whether the flames make this moment more or less romantic, when more debris falls nearby. Without any more delay, they're scrambling cartoonishly to the window for extraction hand in hand (or glove in glove).
