Kaeya lowered his hand, breathing heavy. Every inhale felt like fire licking his ribs, but he kept his face smooth.
“Well,” he said lightly, eyes never leaving the caved-in wall, “on the bright side, you won’t have to worry about me wandering off.”

Or, What was supposed to be a simple mission turns into a nightmare when Kaeya and Diluc are trapped in a collapsed cave—surrounded, injured, and without a way out. Kaeya takes a hit meant for Diluc and tries to hide the wound, but with each passing hour, the fever climbs and their chances of escape dwindle. With no one else coming and Kaeya growing weaker by the minute, Diluc is left to keep them both alive in the dark.

People have differing opinions on alcohol, but in general, Kaeya finds there are four main camps of people. There are those who are starchy against alcohol. They don’t drink alcohol, and they don’t want anyone else to drink it either. Then, there are those who perhaps don’t drink for medical reasons or simply personal reasons, but don’t mind when others partake in the elixir. There are people who view alcohol as a specialty drink, a celebratory mixture to be used to celebrate or even occasionally unwind, perhaps once or twice a week, if not a month.
Then, there were people like Kaeya. People who started drinking not because they wanted a drink, but because they needed a drink. People who need the feeling alcohol gives them, the mind numbing bliss that comes at the bottom of the bottle. The apathy that comes with all of your inhibitions lowered, your feelings freed into something like bliss and your troubles washed away with every swig.
People who refused to think of it as a problem.
(Or the fic in which Kaeya is finally forced to confront his alcoholism).

Genius Invokation TCG. It was a fun new card game that Diluc had the absolute pleasure of hosting for the losers that couldn't play at Cat's Tail. It was all Kaeya's fault - like most things are.
Diluc sighed as he watched them play and they weren’t even playing it right. Like they had tossed all the rules in the air. It’s just a game. But still, couldn’t they at least try to play it correctly? They had made up their own rules and ideas and everything. It was annoying.
Oh well, at least the day was almost over.“Master Diluc! You’re fighting Kaeya right now!” the kids said with a smile.
“Diluc uses a phoenix wing flame attack one million!” the kid said, slamming the card onto the table.It's just a game. It's just a game.

"You were a little brat way in over their head, tryin' to meet expectations you could never live up to. And their blood will always be on your hands. My friends, and your father's. You couldn't even be man enough to stay at our sides. You ran off like a whiny little baby who just wanted his dead mommy and daddy."
Heat fills the tavern, as if a bonfire had been lit in the center.

Essentially, Kaeya tries to hide his blindness from his ex-brother but fails miserably. Diluc, upon finding out, literally loses it, but makes it up by helping Kaeya out.
