“I didn’t say anything!” Greg protests, but he’s still smiling that same self-satisfied grin.
“You looked at me,” Tom says hopelessly. “You gave me that look, that ‘oh wow, Tom’s having emotions’ look. I don’t have emotions, ok? I have investments. And I came here for brand synergy, not for… Melodic catharsis.”

Greg’s intentions were pure when he arrived in front of Tom’s doorstep. He just wanted to make Tom feel better after sensing how terrible his mood was the entire day. Ranting over a couple of brewskies has become a regular bonding time for them. Almost a sacred thing where they hang out, not as cousins-in-law forced to interact on family occasions, or not as coworkers meeting outside office hours to improve work relations, but as friends who enjoy each other’s company.
