And he must be smiling back, because Hank begins filling those yards with his own footsteps.
"Jesus, took you long enough," the lieutenant breathes, and then something else happens—he closes the gap between them, pulling the detective in by the shoulder.

“Guilty conscience, maybe?” Hank offered. “And get out of that damn boat before I have to go fishing for my partner,” He joked, although Connor could detect concern laced in his tone.
