“I’m gonna, uhm,” Their erections brush again and Buck has to start reciting mantras in his head: Don't get distracted. Don’t go cockdumb. You have a mission. You’re stronger than this. “I’m gonna go to bed.”
Eddie blinks.
“Huh?”
“I’m going to sleep,” Buck fakes a yawn, stretching out his arms and rolling off Eddie’s lap back to his side of the bed. “G’night.”
“Wha—Buck—“
“Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz ….. Snoooooooore …..”
Buck has a mission for tonight: Watch Eddie get himself off uninterrupted.

Summary
Maybe Eddie should’ve listened to his Abuela’s warnings (“Always lock your doors, Edmundo, and never go out in the dark at night,” she’d told him, “Los que tienen hambre no pueden ser melindrosos. If it wants to eat, it will.”) but he’d just been a kid, naive and clueless and ever so skeptical. Even present-day—as he came home from a long day of Uber-ing from dawn to dusk, stripping his clothes off and walking into the shower ready for the soothing hot water only to find it freezing cold, going outside of his fixer-upper of a house to go to the back and check if there was a problem with his haphazardly installed water heater with the only external light source being the phone that he held in his hand—he was naive.
So maybe he should’ve listened, but he hadn’t. And he wasn’t able to get the chance to regret that fact before getting bitten and dragged off by a growling creature on all fours.
Eddie gets bitten and infected by a chupacabra, Buck has to use his powers as a witch to help him.

“It’s a bit .. Eh. Inappropriate.”
Maddie raises an eyebrow at Buck, “Inappropriate how?”
“I don’t even know how to—I mean—“ He clears his throat, just saying it all in one go, “Eddiewon’tletmetouchhimduringsex.”
“Eddie won’t let you what?”
Eddie keeps batting Buck’s hand away from his dick when they sleep together, and Buck is intent on figuring out why.

Summary
Buck is a thrill-seeker; he has been since he was a kid, hopping off trees and skateboarding until his chin met the pavement, leading to many hospital visits and lectures from his parents who tended to be more worried of the financial costs they’d gain from each injury he gave himself then the actual physical well-being of their child.
But as he stands on the grounds of the annual state carnival holding a mostly disintegrated and devoured stick of cotton candy in his hand and stares up at the Skylauncher 3000, a drop tower ride with bright flashing neon lights contrasting against the night sky with deafening generic pop music playing from its speakers, he starts to wonder if maybe he’s outgrown the thrill-seeker title altogether.
Christopher wants to go on a carnival drop tower ride. Buck has his reservations.

Summary
“Move in with me?” He asks, leaning in closer to Buck so he can hear him over the sound of the fireworks and Chimney’s nonsensical yelling over whatever topic the group is currently debating.
Buck turns towards him, skin flushed from the drinks he’s had so far and colorful from the red, white, and blue filling the sky at the moment, and asks, “Are you doing this on purpose?”
“What are you—“ And then Eddie remembers that it’s a Fourth of July party they’re currently having, “Oh, right. For the record, I am not.”
Buck has the idea that having relationship milestones on important dates is the worst possible thing that a pairing can do. Eddie has the bad habit of doing exactly that.

Summary
Eddie tilts his head, his hand sliding off Buck’s knee as he leans back. Buck misses the warmth immediately. “Would that help you—having rules?”
Buck can only nod in response, equally confused and intrigued by the sudden gleam in Eddie’s eyes.
Eddie reaches for his beer bottle and brings it to his mouth, tapping the rim against his lower lip. “So if I came up with some dating rules for you to follow, you’d be all right with that?”Buck decides to start dating again, and Eddie offers to give him some rules to follow. That's just the kind of great best friend he is. It's a completely platonic arrangement, and Eddie definitely doesn't have any ulterior motives.

Summary
“Buck, I don’t want to upset you,” he said. “But can you feel this?” Eddie’s eyes gestured down at his arm. Buck followed along the bandages, expecting to see some sort of spot of red or maybe an odd-angled turn. Instead his heart rose and fell too fast as he realized that since they’d been talking, Eddie hadn’t just had his hand on his shoulder. His other was delicately wrapped in Buck’s exposed fingers, starkly white even against the bedding. Buck tried to move them, wanting so badly, even with all this and even as much as it could give him away, to curl back.
They didn’t move.
……
After a spiral, Buck attempts the unthinkable. Eddie helps him recover, but his lasting injuries present new challenges that jeopardize his career. Now he has to get his mental health in order, face potentially leaving the firehouse, and all while being completely and totally in love with his best friend.Series

Summary
"Eddie thinks about Pangea, the slow inevitable drift as tectonic plates shifted and new continents emerged. It’s absurd. People are not land masses. They don’t just drift apart like continents or icebergs in the ocean. There was nothing fateful in Eddie and Buck’s dissolve, nothing to do with destiny or the universe. It was simple manmade destruction. Did he stop picking up the phone? Or did Buck stop calling? It was Eddie who stopped responding to texts. There’s evidence, a whole damning record he can scroll through. Maybe if he were brave enough, he’d be able to work it out. Pick apart their conversations, find the cracks, identify the point where they started slipping away from each other. Eddie is not brave enough."
or the Diazes never move back to LA, Eddie lives his best gay life in El Paso, and Buck refuses to stop haunting the narrative

Summary
Buck is staring at his ceiling, flickering city lights breathing through the window above his bed. He's been crying a lot lately. Over wet dishes, over sunlight hitting his furniture at pretty angles, over nothing at all. It’s how it always starts.
He gets emotional; then he gets numb. He never manages to settle on which one is worse.
This is the part where Buck realises, quite matter-of-factly, that he’s probably going to try to kill himself.
Or: Buck keeps it together until he can't. Luckily, he's got Eddie—and he'll be damned if he lets his best friend slip through the cracks. It takes two.
