It wouldn't be as easy or as simple. The char Louis had sustained in the sun had been excruciating to look at, the pain he must have felt unimaginable to consider, but it was only a crust of damage. The blood could work fast to regenerate skin and mend the damaged fibrous tissue. Armand's blood, in particular, was so powerful. There was a reason he'd been sought out for it by so many before. It'd only been further fortified in the interim. When Louis was recovered, washed anew in it, he'd come to him and made his plea. And though Armand had felt fortified in their love, his own hurt chastened by Louis' pained prostration to him, the hurting of one another and then the forgiveness that had followed, he saw that the very pain, the bone-deep hurt, had been too much for Louis to shoulder. So he'd agreed to do it. To the best of his ability, he'd completed the excision and despite the fact that there would always be the upkeep, the kind lies, the gentle obfuscation, that would be his own burden. He'd effectively lifted it from Louis, and if that wasn't an act of love... if that wasn't a selfless, self-sacrifice of an atoning endeavor, then Armand knew not the definition.

Louis’s transient impression of him, his curls just that much curlier, whiter, peers over from his easy spot against the pillows on Armand’s side of the bed. Molloy speaks again. “I feel like a bigger spoon would solve a lot of your problems, Louis.”
