Melissa’s amusement grows. “Liam, let go of Theo.”
“Not my mom,” Liam mumbles into Theo’s shoulder.
Melissa raises her voice and calls without turning her head, “Scott? Get your beta to let go of Theo!”
Scott’s voice drifts into the kitchen, muffled by the material of the couch he’s slouched in against Malia. “Is he murdering Theo?”
“No,” says Melissa.
“That’s debatable,” Theo mutters.
“Then he’s fine,” says Scott in response to his mother.

Liam moves back as if burned. His eyes are wide, and for the first time since he barged into the room Theo notices the bags under them, the white pallor to his usually sun tanned skin and the still healing worried bite marks on his lips. "You-" he runs a hand through his hair, looking off to the side, expression troubled, "what exactly do you remember?"
"I just told you."
"No, what you just told me happened more than a year ago," Liam says carefully, eyeing him as if expecting him to take off running at any moment. "I'm asking you about last night, Theo."
Theo wakes up thinking he's finally managed to escape his sister's torment, only to find out that this is not a recent development and he's actually missing a considerable chunk of memories. Good thing Liam's here to help him get back into the flow of things.

Liam starts noting Theo’s… thing surrounding his neck a lot more after that night in the truck. Not in a bad way, or even a truly distracting one.
It’s just another one of Theo’s Theo-y quirks that Liam is learning to roll with. He’s got plenty of his own quirks that Theo is probably getting used to on his own end, but Liam doesn’t think he has anything that’s quite the equivalent of Theo’s preoccupation with his throat.

It’s not hard to read Liam’s body language when he’s hunched so far in on himself it’s like he wants to disappear, but Theo immediately takes note of several factors that cause him to frown in both confusion and concern.
Again, Liam has chosen to lay on Theo’s side of the bed, which is unusual. He’s got his headphones in as well, which isn’t unusual, but is also something Scott had once mentioned to Theo was Liam’s stand-in anchor when he was still learning how to control himself.
It’s the shirt that’s the real indicator that something is up.
