They were both on board with trying it, both painfully aware of the fact that they both are doing it for one reason, one person that they subconsciously keep in between them at all times. Carisi and Nick rarely stop their eye contact – and if they do, it’s only to look at Rafael – circling each other like predators, on constant lookout for any sudden movement, encroachment. It’s a complete other matter that the prey seems to revel in the fight over him, and Nick definitely does not want to think that his opponent is not only allowed, but is encouraged to challenge, to pounce, to claim. Which Carisi does with his sure fingertips – touching but never digging. With his smug mouth – nipping but never biting. With his entire existence – being Carisi but never Amaro.
