“I…” He tried to put words in order, but they escaped from him, like the tiny fish he’d see in the Mediterranean as a kid, when he’d dive and try to catch them with his hands. He climbed into the passenger seat and let Kendall buckle him up and cover him with his coat. His lips regained a bit of sensitivity. “Sorry,” he finally settled on.
