To his dismay, it looked much the same as he’d left it to lie spread-eagled in the sand not fifteen minutes ago: sand and seaweed, a scattering of shells; his oars, discarded in a clatter to his left; his dinghy, with its small but significant hole; the surf, and further out, the cause of his dinghy’s demise, those sharp and jagged hidden rocks.
Well, there was nothing for it. He’d have to go into the forest.

The point is, they'd better not. It wouldn't work. And when Jaskier tries something, because he's definitely going to, it'll be up to Geralt to make the right decision and save them both the trouble.
Better that things should go on as they are. Better than sating Jaskier's whims and having it all fall apart after.
This once, perhaps, there's a lesser evil after all. And Geralt will choose it and gladly.
(Or: Jaskier starts hitting on Geralt all the time. Geralt ignores it, because that's obviously the only reasonable thing to do. Except, sooner or later, he isn't going to be able to anymore.)

Summary
It bubbled up from his chest, made the hair stand up on the back of his neck, goosebumps breaking over his skin as a shriek of pain ripped from his throat. He’d never screamed like that, from his very core - he’d always been loud, but not like this.
His hand instinctively wrapped around the blade and he gagged, choking on the taste of something rotten. He was pretty sure that’s not how blood was supposed to taste and he heaved, swallowing down bile past his gasping, head falling back with a thunk against the wall as he shuddered. His knees went weak and it was only by leaning his body back against the wall behind him that his weight didn’t drop to the ground.
For a moment the pain, the rot, the way the world spun - it made him think that the thud was actually him and he forced his eyes open; if he were to die, he wanted to look upon the world one more time.
Jaskier was still standing.

He could have been in bed with the girl long ago, but Geralt knows by now that he likes this, likes whispering flirtatious nonsense, and sipping from his cup of mead, and sending winks at Geralt.
Geralt wishes he wouldn't.
Jaskier and Geralt fantasize repeatedly about how badly they do not want each other. Also, they do not care about each other. And any domesticity is unintentional.(Luckily, being travel partners is a temporary arrangement.)

Summary
