It had surprised him when they’d met – so taken perhaps by the joint-front of John’s wit and confidence and Paul’s charm and maturity – to find this scrappy little thing behind them, but it’d been impossible to deny his skill with the guitar, just as it’d been impossible to deny John and Paul’s shared and individual affection for him (something he could certainly not say about poor Pete).
