Summary
Itachi likes his plain and boring life where he gets to live for his work and plan his future. He gives in to Sasuke's nagging to live a little, and ends up at a nightclub where a horrible migraine makes him slip up and confess his decade old love to his best friend. Sasuke rebels, Shisui is getting married, and Itachi meets the club's gorgeous DJ who's just the right amount of full of himself, loud, and knows how to keep him coming (back). Summary
After his release from Konoha's prison complex, Deidara is forced to work with the Hokage and the ANBU to track and gather intel on the Akatsuki, the very organisation he was once a part of.
Itachi is the captain of the ANBU team Ro who keeps a close eye on the former prisoner, and makes sure he's fit for everything the Hokage and Konoha needs him for.
Across many years, they grow closer. The former prisoner becomes more than just an asset. And the stoic ANBU captain turns out to be strangely sweet and kind.

Since Itachi walked out of a hospital room and said the most irreversible thing he's ever said to a room full of clan elders, the village has formed opinions, the elders have formed leverage, and Hinata Hyuga has ordered him barley tea because she knew what he would want before he knew he wanted it.
What follows is a story navigating real obstacles: political interference from both clans, an Akatsuki threat that doesn't wait for convenient timing, and the problem of being two very private people whose relationship has become the village's favorite subject.
The bond forced the attention. The love was always a choice. This is the part where they choose it — in full view of everyone, in all the complicated and occasionally undignified ways that real things get built.

Körülbelül fél évvel az előző könyv eseményei előtt járunk. Még mindig 2018, Virginia és az a fajta urbánus fantasy, ami inkább urbánus, mint fantasy. Hajnali telefonhívások és üzenetváltások, bulizások, maffiamelók, gyorsulási versenyzések, thai box, és egy szerelem alakulása, amiről az érintetteknek nagyon lassan esik le, hogy micsoda, és amiről tudják, hogy nem lesz jó végre, de nem tudnak kiszállni belőle.
Főhősünk Riley Paget, egy huszonhárom éves, frissen egyetemet végzett, bukott élsportoló Kaliforniából, aki a barátnőjéhez költözik a kitagadása után Trenchbe, az Átkok Városába, ahol aztán megismerkedik Demáékkal és belekeveredik az összes ügyes-bajos dolgukba. Meg a bandavezérükbe is. Azt már tudjuk, hogy annak a sztorinak a vége mi lett, de most ideje megismerni az elejét is.
