Calum spends the entire show glancing back at Ashton behind his drum set, and for the most part it’s difficult to notice anything but pure concentration, but in the little parts in between where there’s a break from the drums in the songs, Calum sees it. He sees the deep breaths, his chest moving heavily with each inhale, sweat rolling down his forehead in waves and closing his eyes five seconds longer when he blinks it out of his eyes.

His back hits the wall and he doesn’t even feel it.
Michael is pressed against him, one hand tangled in his curls, pulling, yanking his head back against the wall so he can latch his lips on Luke’s pulse point and suck. It’s hungry, wet and messy, and Luke worries for a second he’s going to leave a visible mark - then Michael shifts his kisses up his neck, over his cheek to finally land on his lips, hot and open mouthed and all thought flies right out. His other hand is leaving a handprint on Luke’s hip, warm fingers burning themselves into Luke skin, pressing him against the wall so hard it makes him see stars.
That could also be the alcohol.

And Michael doesn’t understand, still, why it was so important to Luke to kiss him for the fans. He’s been trying to think about it, and every time the memory of Luke’s fingers on his skin and his blue eyes locked on his flashes in his mind the only thing he comes out with is a gaping hole in his chest, the need for more, his fingers itching to hold Luke again and to wipe the sad look he seems unable to let go of.
But Luke isn’t talking to him and he’s ignoring him and Michael has the right to be mad and stubborn, so he’s going to wait this - whatever it is - out until Luke comes up to talk to him.

It’s not like Luke doesn’t interact with him on stage. He does it more than Michael thought he would, if he’s honest, and every time he has to fight back the absolute, love-sick, embarrassing smile tugging at his lips. Sometimes he was irrationally afraid that the microphones would pick up on his heartbeat every time Luke was near.
And yet, in Valencia, it wasn’t enough. In Valencia, Michael wished he was the one on his knees looking up at Luke like he does behind closed doors and curtains pulled shut. He wished for Luke to sing someone call the guitarist and to wink at him before jumping off to finish the song.
