Summary
Cashier wakes to the sensation of vibrations on his chest. It’s like a cat purring.
His stomach drops. He's suddenly not hungry anymore. He doesn't want to think about it. So he doesn’t. Doesn’t read the messages, just turns on Do Not Disturb and lets the device thunk against his sternum.
It’s past eight in the morning, which means he slept through Player’s nightly visit. Which means that it’s too late to pretend this never happened.
or,
Cashier is searching for something he can't name. It takes him further and further, until it tries to swallow him whole.

The thing is,
The thing is,
Cashier's grief will always follow him. He cannot explain it's want, it's purpose, but he is forced to cradle it in his arms on and on.
(The usual introspection, with arguing and hatred.)

It isn’t until Player's arm is outstretched, a mere inch from the doorknob, that the horrific realization sets in.
There is something on the other side of the door.
OR,
Following the eyes of Player, and dealing with the fall out of attempted murder.

Summary
Inside Dummy is many things. Sometimes it feels like hundreds of colours of string tied and knotted into an indiscernible hue. Other times it's like they've been gutted into a husk. A fancy shell that is simply empty.

The path of grief, travelled by someone who does not understand it.

Summary
Each step jostles Player, and he tries to ignore the way that their hands grip tighter and tighter around him. The sky is vaguely cloudy, which provides some relief from the setting sun. However, it cannot protect him from the dry air burning his lungs, threatening to choke him from the inside out.
Or
Cashier, Dummy, and Player cannot always remain unscathed.
