When the ship sends out a distress signal to God-knows-who, Rocky explains a foreign concept to Grace, and they get a very special appearance from a few humans. (working summary, bear with me here)

Summary
Dreams of Space Travel had always been part of humanity, but Dr. Grace's success had only amplified humanity’s desire for more. As such, a new age of Space Exploration began to form.
It was a slow but steady march, and one humanity would not yield to. It took many years and countless groundbreaking inventions, but eventually it became a reality for more people than ever.
Across the globe, there were academies for new generations of astronauts and space explorers. Among them was the Galaxy Garrison, where the Paladins of Voltron once studied. One way or another, it was during their time there that they had accidentally been chased off their planet and forced to become the Universe’s last defense against the Galra Empire.

It’s because the Paladins had learned that Erid was under threat of Galra invasion.

First, he had to stop a couple of kidnappings then he sees a bunch of supervillains causing problems, and right in front of him! The audacity! Of course, he had to do something about it!

“So, KID, how’s it going?”, Officer Sasaki said conversationally. Kid looked up from where he was shortcutting the cables for the electricity of the building— Damnit, they should’ve had more guards than just him there— and without missing a beat replied—
“Very well, actually!”, KID said cheerfully as ever. “Though I’m unsure what you’re trying to achieve by asking about my progress with the electricity when you can see me doing it!”
“I didn’t mean the electricity.”, Sasaki clarified. “I meant like, in life! How’s sch—“ SHIT “— the job going?” KID froze for a second, so as a distraction Sasaki quickly tacked on : “Do you have a job? I honestly can’t imagine anything that would fit you— Except maybe Magician? But that’d be a bit too obvious, wouldn’t it?”
or : the fic in which the task force has ten heart attacks, Snake gets arrested for about a day and it turns out that suing the parents of a phantom thief is impossible. Not in that order.
