Summary
In the heat of battle against Morgana and her army, Merlin discovers hereto unknown Dragonlord powers. With the army defeated Merlin flees Camelot, knowing he won't be able to return home until he figures out his to reverse his transformation into a dragon.
Gwaine last saw Merlin where the dragon appeared, he's devastated to realise Merlin is missing once the battle is over. Presumed kidnapped (and feared dead), Gwaine is only too eager to accept Arthur's orders to track down and slay the dragon, and bring Merlin home.
Realising Merlin and the dragon are one and the same, Gwaine has to unlearn his prejudices before he can accept Merlin for all he is.

Summary
Merlin found a young dragon whilst out collecting herbs. He healed it as best he could, and brought the injured creature back to Camelot to recover. Meanwhile, Gwaine is missing and presumed dead following an attack by a sorcerer.
Gwaine woke up, injured, separated from his patrol, and transformed into a dragon. He learns secrets Merlin would never have chosen to share had he known who he was talking to.

This time instead of making Gwaine his champion in the ring, Jarl has him interrogate prisoners, using whatever torturous methods are required to gain the information the slavers seek. Gwaine tells himself he can deal with doing whatever is necessary to keep himself alive long enough to escape, until he’s ordered to interrogate a sorcerer he knows. If Gwaine wants to avoid ending up in the cell next to Merlin’s, he’ll have to make the interrogation seem real. It’ll have to be real.

Summary
After Arthur repeals the magic ban, Merlin still can’t bring himself to come clean. He meets Arthur and his knights as Emrys while under the effect of a transformation spell. Gwaine takes an immediate liking to him, and the two grow closer as they exchange letters, while Merlin wonders how Gwaine would feel if he knew who he was actually writing to.

Summary
When the King is attacked in his tent on patrol and falls into an unending sleep everyone is worried. What they don't know is that Arthur is fine. In fact he is standing right here next to them, watching them all fret over his prone body. To stave off the boredom whilst a cure is found Arthur takes to wandering the castle and soon discovered a hidden side of Camelot he never knew about.
Or: Arthur's soul gets trapped outside his body and takes to following his servant around. He gets an interesting insight into Merlin, his servant's life and just how much Camelot needs the man.

Summary
“I lost him,” Merlin says quietly, and bows his head as the tears prickle annoyingly at his lashes. One of them drops into his stew; it ripples for a moment, and he stares at the dish. He isn’t hungry, really.
“He would have wanted for you to be happy,” Gaius says, his voice kind and low. Merlin feels as though he’s a wounded animal, hiding away in the corner and shying away from all hands that want to help him—he can’t be helped. Lancelot was his friend, and Merlin couldn’t lose him, but he did.
Or: Lancelot walks through the veil and towards his death. So everyone thinks, at least, until Merlin finds him trapped in the world between life and death. And there's very little Merlin won't do to get him back.
