Suddenly, he understood why wildcats allowed themselves to be domesticated all those thousands of years ago.
"Agent, please don't do that to Agent Grapes," Ryu Jaekwan said with a frown. "It's not dignified."
Kim Soleum jolted out of his stupor.

During a rescue mission, Kim Soleum is cursed into the body of an ordinary black cat, a transformation he's told is harmless and temporary. That's all good and well, but why can't he stop following Agent Choi everywhere?!

He'd accidentally let out a hiss of pain when a particularly hard jolt hit his shoulder at just the wrong angle, and Baek Saheon had actually spared the breath to pant out a soft, "sorry". Kim Soleum had just stared at the floor in disbelief, watching the patterns on the floor wobble around, replaying the small sound again and again in his head until he finally registered what it had been.And at that moment, it seemed very much to him that he'd made the right choice.

Saheon made a dismissive gesture and cut him off, "Whatever-"
"No." Soleum grabbed at his wrist. "Baek Saheon, I'm sorry."
Saheon had to admit to himself that he'd fantasised moments like this. Soleum apologising. The terrifying, powerful, admittedly awe-inspiring Kim Soleum lowering his head to him. He had imagined making him grovel and beg for forgiveness, and Saheon would tower above him as he bowed and ducked his head in submission. He imagined the gratitude and happiness as he would forgive him, but not fully forgive him, for he would make sure to wring out every bit of use he could out of him.
But of course, nothing about this was satisfying.
(or, in part 3, Soleum insists on talking it out.)

Lu Guang brought the bowl closer, lifting the spoon to his mouth and swallowing the congee. It went down smoothly and filled his chest with such a lovely warmth, he nearly teared up. He continued eating in relative silence, punctuated only by the music coming from Cheng Xiaoshi’s phone accompanied by various character voice lines.

He swallows, hard. His throat bobs. His teeth ache. He steels his jaw, curls his brass claw into his own arm to distract himself from the heat flaring up in his stomach.
“What do you want?” Mydei asks, voice rougher than usual.

Phainon was boneless in Mydei’s arms, legs tangled together, with his head tucked beneath Mydei’s chin. His body hummed with the slow, pleasant throb of being thoroughly ruined, and his voice was down to a murmur.
“Don’t let me die of contentment,” he whispered.
“You’re not dying,” Mydei said, brushing damp curls away from his forehead.
“I might be,” Phainon argued faintly. “I think my bones melted. You melted me.”
