Summary
In Unstable City, there's a lot of things that exist. Hybrids of all kinds, from dogs, to demons, to blazes. It's not unique, that's for sure, as the cities surrounding it, like Lifesteal City or Strength City, have their own quirks, and their own different hybrids of creatures and humans.
One thing Unstable City has that other cities do not, however, is an angel. Angels were hunted and killed down until near extinction for their abilities, which were said that one could receive if they ate an angel's heart.
It had been centuries since anyone's seen an angel, so that myth was yet to be proven.
Eggchan is an angel.
He works at a coffee shop. He does all the shifts, every last one, since the other employees all either ran off to be heroes, or died in the crossfire of the battles. Doesn't matter to Egg though. As long as he gets paid.
Staying safe isn't too hard.
Until heroes, vigilantes and villains alike decide that the coffee shop Egg works at is a great place to get coffee.

"You're always tired after fights."
Rejoice says finally, as if he had been mulling over a good response. Even then, the words sound like a weak excuse. They both know what Wemmbu truly means.

The sunflowers in the field sways slightly with the wind, Wemmbu’s hair flowing behind him, “Forgive and forget, that’s what you said.” Wemmbu remembered, eyeing him in the corners of his eyes, his heart aching at the sight of an old friend.
Rejoice’s expression softens, shutting his eyes and letting the warmth of the sun hit his face.
“Yeah.”
or, in which, a near death experience after protecting jaden from a killing blow, wemmbu meets with rejoice in the boundary between life and death.

Egg's eye snapped open to the sight of Wemmbu's face approximately six inches from his own, and even in the dim light filtering through the window, he could see how bad it was. Wemmbu was trying to smile—that winning grin he always wore when he knew he'd messed up but was hoping somehow it would all work out anyway—but it was strained at the edges, pulled too tight across his face.
It didn't reach his eyes. Those strange, darkening eyes that had been getting worse for weeks now.

So why did being near them feel safe?
Wemmbu opened his mouth, but no words came out. What was he supposed to say? How did you explain the weight of everything when you'd spent so long pretending the weight didn't exist?
How did you tell a stranger that you felt like you were drowning? That every day felt like a fight just to keep your head above water? That you were so tired of being alone but too afraid to let anyone close?
