Summary
It’s hard to explain what’s been going on with Dr. Abbot and Dr. Mohan. No one can see that they've found comfort in each other during the worst times of their lives. But between Jack’s terrible coping skills and Samira’s inability to put herself first, the bridge is bound to burn eventually.
Inspired by tracks on Older by Lizzy McAlpine.

Summary
It’s not that Samira doesn’t hear Jack when he comes in. She does — the muted jangle of his keys, the snick of the door closing. She’s just halfway in his fridge, is all, blearily rooting around for Greek yogurt and berries she hopes against hope haven’t begun to fuzz, so it isn’t until he greets her with “well, aren’t you up early,” that she turns and realizes he isn’t alone.
“Is that Baby Jane Doe?”

Summary
Samira doesn't notice that Jack has drawn closer until he’s grabbing her right arm and lifting it to rest along his shoulders, her elbow bracketing his neck.
“What are you doing?” she asks, a bit startled. “Jack -”
“Hold on,” he tells her, and then he scoops her legs up with his right arm, sweeps her up, and he is carrying her. Strong enough to do so with only one arm.
a.k.a. Dr. Jack Abbot carries Dr. Samira Mohan home from a house party.

Summary
Samira's sudden departure from PTMC left everybody shocked and bewildered. No one knew of her plans, no one knew where she went or that she had in mind to do so in the first place.
After three years since her departure, things seem to be looking just normal in the ER. But not for Jack Abbot. Everything around reminds him of Samira and of the things he should've said to her while he still had the chance. He is plagued by regrets and hopes that one day he'll be able to make things right.

Summary
Jack closes his eyes, tries to remember what happened. His shift ending. Snow falling heavily. The sidewalk to the parking garage slick. Samira moving towards the bus stop, slipping but catching herself. Him offering to drive her home, the desire to be in her presence just a little longer. The warmth of his car's heater. The skid of a delivery truck on the black ice coming at them head on. The crash of metal and glass. Fighting with the medics when the ambulance arrived. Fighting to get to her.
"Samira." He sits up on the cot, looking around him wildly. She'd been put into an ambulance before him. Flashes of her being pulled from his arms by EMTs while he fought to keep her. "Where is she?"
"Just got in before you." Langdon assures him. "Robby's got her. She's safe."
"I need to see her." he tries to get out of the bed, but Jesse and Donnie are on his other side pulling him back while Langdon pushes against him. Jack's hand flies out, grips the younger doctor's wrist tightly. "I swear to whatever god you believe in, Langdon, I will knock you out if I don't lay eyes on her in the next minute."

Samira,
We are all so incredibly proud of you and cannot wait to hear all about the amazing work you do at UCLA. We can only hope that California doesn’t charm you too much – but no matter what, you’ll always have a family here in Pittsburgh. Hope you know how much you will be missed around here. Please stay in touch and send pictures of the beaches and burritos often.
All the best wishes,
Robby & the Pitt Crew-

Well. Damn. Consider her properly put in her place.

Summary
When they went to check in, the front desk was happy to inform them that it was lucky they had a reservation as between the conference and the weather, they were fully booked up - and here were the keycards to their handicap accessible King room.
“We need two beds,” Jack said immediately.
There was not a room with two beds available. Not in this hotel and not in any of the ones that Jack had called while standing in the lobby.
“Abbot, they made this screw up last year too, and I ended up sharing a bed with Cassie and it was fine,” Samira finally said, sick of standing in the lobby and shivering whenever the automatic doors opened. “I promise I don’t snore or kick.”

Summary
“I’ll move with you.”
“Jack… Your whole life is here.”
They talked. And talked, and talked. He stood there, vulnerable, honest like an open book, and, as if it were an unbreakable mathematical constant, he continued to offer her his heart in his outstretched hands.
“Since my wife died, my whole life has been filled with unhealthy coping mechanisms, night shifts, and mornings spent on the edge of the roof. You are my new, incredible life, and I’ll never leave it. Unless you want me to…”
And she didn’t want him to. She took him with her and grew happier with each passing day.

Or, Samira moves to California. Jack follows.

Summary
Jack didn’t go in much for praying anymore. No point, not when nobody upstairs seemed to give a shit either way. Praying was for altar boys and little kids and people who wanted their football team to win the Superbowl; for parents in his ER who refused medical care for their dying children in favor of speaking in tongues and yelling up the ladder to something that didn’t answer. Not for him. He believed in only a few things, and none of those were anything big enough to pray to.
Well, almost none. There’d been one thing. A person, really. Bigger than a person, though. More like a grand, orchestral concept, a hope half-divine, fifty-two percent of the reason he kept showing up to work for four years straight.

Summary
“Long time no see.” He can hear the misplaced anger steeped in every word.
Jack, for his part, doesn’t seem to notice. Although maybe it’s more apt to say that he doesn’t care. Not anymore.
He’s greyer, new smile lines beside his eyes, an ease to him that Robby cannot remember seeing in years - or maybe ever. He has to cut his eyes away when Jack starts to speak. “Well, brother, that’s what happens when people accept it when you say you don’t want help.”

It’s been five years since Jack Abbot left Pittsburgh. A lot has changed.
