The words rang around Laios’ head as he bussed tables and refilled sodas.
On the surface, sure, Laios knew he’d been eating more often lately. He’d noticed some of his clothing fit more snugly these days. But beyond that, he hadn’t noticed any real consequences to his increased snacking and late-night binging.
Now, Chilchuck’s comment lingering at the forefront of his memory, Laios seemed to realize for the first time just how much his body had changed.

“Do you… think I should size up my uniform?”
“What?” She couldn’t think. Her brain flooded with memories from the past week or so — his shirt riding up when he bent over, sighs of relief when he’d undo his pants at the end of the day, one particular comment about even the collar starting to feel tight.
“Well, I’m-” He cleared his throat and started again, jaw clenched. “I’m not exactly getting any smaller.”
“Nope.”
He blinked at her. “Okay, well. I can either size up my clothes, or… change my habits. So what do you think?”
The words tumbled out of her mouth before she could even process them. “I think you’re about to burst out of your current uniform.”

Ted passes her the popcorn bowl and pulls his sweatshirt over his head, and Alexis watches appreciatively, cradling the bowl in her lap. But the white t-shirt he’s wearing underneath his sweatshirt pulls up, too, and where Ted has always been flat and toned, there’s now a soft little pile of belly.
Alexis blinks, confused. Has Ted — Ted hasn’t always had that, has he? She would know. She would know, right? Like, she would have felt it?
