Levi thinks of his little house on the square, and the blossom in the park, he thinks about sharing ice cream with the kids on the sea front, drinking tea with Onyankopon in the afternoon. He thinks of the way Erwin’s eyes light up when he smiles, and all the wonders those eyes never had a chance to see.
“Yes,” Levi says slowly, “I think I do. Just for a little while longer.”Levi makes a promise to live his life after the war.
