Wyatt’s gaze flicked from Hollander to Rozanov – who looked absolutely delighted with this turn of events – and back again. “You two follow playoff traditions as well then?”
Hollander shrugged, still catastrophically casual, “I mean, when we played on different teams we sort of had to. Conflict of interests and all that. But I meant more generally. You know what it’s like, right?”
Wyatt wasn’t sure that he did, and was suddenly very conscious of the fact that he might not be in the least bit emotionally prepared for whatever was about to come out of Hollander’s mouth.
“Like, the other day,” Hollander continued, seemingly unaware of the proverbial bombshell he was about to drop. “Ilya tied me up and edged me for…was it two hours?”
“Three, moyo solnyshko,” Rozanov corrected, sounding like Christmas, his birthday, and the Easter Bunny had all come at once.
Shane Hollander joins the Centaurs, and the team discovers that their Captain might be a certified menace, but his husband is so, so much worse.
OR: five times Shane accidentally terrorizes the Centaurs locker room, and one time he chooses to hold back.

Ilya hadn’t lied to Shane when he’d told him it had been a good day. And he hadn’t been lying to himself when he’d privately thought of it as one of his best days, either.
Which means that when Ilya wakes up at 5am the next morning feeling like there’s a ten-ton brick wedged in the space between his lungs and his ribcage, he knows it’s not because of everything that happened the day before.
Not really. Not once you crack open his sternum and start poking around at the dark, squishy guts of it all.
Meeting Shane's parents brings up some unexpected emotions for Ilya. It's not the first time, and he's sure it won't be the last, but at least this time he doesn't have to deal with them on his own.

Rozanov’s smile was all teeth. “Ah, yes. Is gift.”
Something tripped in Shane’s chest at the idea. Sure, they’d been hooking up for nearly half a decade by this point, but four frantic trysts a year did not a relationship make. Certainly not a relationship which included gifts.
“Oh. I mean– thank you.” The sincerity felt strange on his tongue, but Yuna and David Hollander raised Shane with goddamn manners, and if somebody gave you a gift you said fucking thank you.
Even if that someone was Ilya Rozanov. Even if he was looking at you with a Cheshire Cat smile that made you think you’d seriously missed an important piece of context.
Or: Five times Ilya and Shane got each other gifts that absolutely, categorically, 100% didn't mean anything, and one time they gave up pretending.

“Oh yes, I’m sure doctors would say this is fine,” Rozanov waved his hands around more violently. “‘Yes, Hollander’ they would say, ‘take your broken ribs and go get fucked so hard you cannot move. Is no problem, no problem at all’.”
“Bruised, not broken,” Shane corrected, although he knew that wasn’t really the point. “And a little rough sex isn’t going to kill me. I’ll be back on the ice before the next Raiders game, it won’t affect the season if you’re like…worried about poor sportsmanship or whatever.”
“Fuck Hollander, I do not care about the season! I care about–” Rozanov cut himself off sharply.
Shane gets injured during a game, then tries to hide that fact from Ilya. It goes about as well as you might expect.

He reaches up to stroke her nose, and something settles in his chest. Something that shook loose thirty years ago and never quite found its way home again.
'Thank you, sweetheart.' His lips move near-silently, a confessional between man and machine. 'Thank you for saving me. Thank you for saving him. I’m sorry for abandoning you. I’m sorry for not loving you like I should have.'
A story told across the years, looking at Maverick’s relationship with his F-14, his relationship with Rooster and - perhaps most importantly - his relationship with himself.

Maverick’s shrug was casual, but his smile was genuine for the first time all evening as the band struck an energetic opening chord. “I took some classes a while back,” he said, chuckling at Rooster’s obvious look of surprise. “Don’t look at me like that. Not all of my youth was completely misspent.”
Maverick reveals yet another hidden talent. Rooster handles this revelation about as well as anyone might expect.

“I tried every avenue I could think of, and found every door slammed in my face. Nothing heaped on top of nothing, for four long years, until finally, someone called me back. A Research and Development branch of the Navy was looking for volunteers. Top secret, very experimental, but with a guaranteed choice of posting at the end of it, if I survived. Naturally, I signed right the fuck up.”
Rooster's path to the military is more complicated than in canon. Maverick discovers the true repercussions of his actions.

“Big spoon or little?” Maverick asked with a teasing look and Rooster’s brain- traitorous fucker that it was- found itself too busy conjuring up imagery of how a night spooning with Maverick might go to form any sort of coherent response.
Maverick’s expression turned rueful, clearly misreading Rooster’s lack of reaction as a different kind of hesitation. “I’m sorry, that was too much.” He shuffled to the side, taking only a sliver of bedding for himself and leaving the rest for Rooster. “We need to stay close to keep warm, and back-to-front is the best way to do that. But we can also go back-to-back. It’s not a problem.”
Rooster shook his head. He was just being stupid, there was no reason for either of them to risk injury just because Rooster couldn’t get his fucking libido under control. “No, it’s fine. I’m- ah- I’m bigger, so I guess it makes sense for me to be...uh...the big spoon?”
Maverick laughed fondly, “That doesn’t necessarily correlate, but sure.”
In which Maverick is the same hellion he's always been, Rooster is just trying to get his dick to behave, and somewhere Goose is banging his head repeatedly against the nearest brick wall.

Something must have shown in his expression as Rooster paused, frowning.

Maverick has to reconcile with the fact that he's getting older. Rooster shows him that it's not such a bad thing.
