Something in Frank’s expression shatters. “Peter.”
“It’s okay. I mean, ‘s fucked up, but it’s okay.” He still doesn’t put any weight on the trigger. His finger’s barely on it. “You’re here now.”
Without the furrow in his brow, Frank’s eyes are large and dark, nearly doe-like in their glassiness. It’s disconcerting, seeing a man so dangerous with a face so open and vulnerable.
“Kid?”
He closes his eyes, breathing out. He can do it.

Peter Parker has spent years insisting that no one gets to decide who deserves to die.
Not Frank Castle. Not the Avengers. Not even Spider-Man.
Then, at four in the morning, with rain against his bedroom window and an old sitcom playing softly in the dark, Peter sends Frank a name.
Skip Wescott.
He doesn't explain who the man is. He doesn't explain what happened when he was younger, or why affection has never felt quite as simple to him as it seems to everyone else. Frank doesn't ask. He only makes sure Peter understands what giving him that name means.
Peter does.
By morning, Skip Wescott is gone.
Peter expects relief. Instead, he discovers that revenge cannot return the child he used to be, erase the memories he carries, or make him feel safe inside his own life again. And as Spider-Man grows quieter, his friends begin to notice that something bright in Peter Parker has dimmed.
A character study about guilt, lost innocence, revenge, and the unbearable realization that sometimes getting what you wanted doesn't make anything hurt less.

Here's the thing.
Usually, after huge missions or big battles as Spider-man, Peter would simply crash for a few days. He'd grab as much food as he could with the money he could scrape together, eat half of it, plop into bed, and sleep well into the morning multiple days in a row. All to let himself heal up and recover. Easy enough.
Except, today, after swinging by (not literally this time, surprisingly) a local deli to grab a dozen sandwiches yesterday, having come home from the hospital, and just passing out in his crummy bed, he didnt wake up to the usual sight of his leaky roof. Far from it, actually.

After getting home from sneaking out of the hospital, Peter lets himself rest. Alone. His spider-sense has something to say about that.

Five months after Peter Parker gets shot and wakes up in hospital, it's Father's Day.
Father's Day is always a weird one. For as long as Peter can remember Mother's Day was for May, and he still keeps up that tradition, but he's never had a dad. Patrol comes up quiet, the heat keeping even criminals off the streets, so Peter ends up puttering around his apartment, halfheartedly cleaning out his desk drawers. And that's when he finds the letter.
Peter rediscovers a letter he wrote at 15 to his future self in which he asks for advice. He decides to write a reply, reflecting on a few of the "father figures" he's had in his life since then.
