That sounds familiar. You can’t quite place where you’ve heard it. It’s a nice name, though. Uncommon for Hylians, but lovely still. “Link,” you say his name just to say it, to feel the way it fits in your mouth. “Nice to meet you. I’m ___.”

Link is just on the hunt for the shrines, tied to a destiny much bigger than himself. By chance, he happens to be in the mountains when he hears the familiar sounds of a Guardian up to no good. Really, he was just doing his duty as a hero to protect, and somehow, by the end of it all, a pretty Hylian worms into his heart.

He picks up the quill and scrawls a fast sentence: ‘my name is Link.’
“Link,” you say aloud, “that’s a nice name.” Something in the back of your mind gives a small wriggle, like a memory that was trying to stand out. You had a feeling that you must have heard his name before, or perhaps you’d just met someone with the same name. Maybe someone in the nearby Hateno Village. But you had never been good at pairing names with faces, and you had never stayed in the town long enough to make any friends.
When you look up once more you see that he has a curious expression on his face, as if there’s a question he’d like to ask.
OR
Link washes ashore near your cottage after a nasty fight at sea, and you take it upon yourself to tend to his wounds once he falls sick. Having only just moved to Hyrule, you know very little of its history, and next to nothing about the Calamity or the Upheaval. This makes Link interested in you- in someone who has no idea that he's the Hero of Hyrule.

!!AN!!: It's November, and I'm still writing! I am pouring my heart and soul into this story- the first chapter alone is 6,000 words, UNEDITED, which means more will probably be added later. While patrolling the fields of Hyrule, Y/N finds a strange necklace with an even stranger aura about it. Entranced by the swirling gem attached to the rusted chain, she puts it on- not knowing it would be a life altering decision.
After all- it's just a piece of jewelry... right?
Not long after, Zelda sends Y/N and Link on a dire mission to find out as much as possible about a supposed cult dedicated to the revival and following of Ganon. However, on the long journey there,
Y/N falls ill. Knowing Link would immediately head back because of her condition- she keeps it a secret and suffers in silence.
As the journey progresses, things start to get intense, and secrets are revealed. What will become of the two knights?
