There’s a strain in Eddie’s voice around the word not, and Will winces. Dustin already grimaces at Eddie's words, but he couldn’t take it back now. Both of his older friends, who he thought were friends at best, were definitely about to progress to something Dustin did not want to think about.

Steve interrupts him. “Henderson! Maybe it's best to listen to your elders next time, alright?”

Maybe, just maybe, in another world, he would've been happier. Maybe, if Dazai decided to abandon this idea and get off of this rooftop the safe way, the ADA would be waiting for him with open arms, Mori and his parents would somehow appear, apologising to him on their knees for everything they've done, and everything would be okay.
Was this finally the end? Was he just going to die, like this?

Dazai turned his attention from actually doing his work for once to Kyouka. He grinned, his face getting slightly warmer.
"You know Chuuya Nakahara, right? I'm now dating him."
This followed with silence from everyone, as all the members of the agency stared at Dazai. Dazai's grin fell off at the slightly long- and getting longer- silence, and talked.
"Is it because it's illegal? Well, even if it is, I-"
"You mean you guys... WEREN'T dating before?"
Dazai turned his head to Atsushi and turned red.
"WHAT!?"
