"Or because-" With great pleasure, Steve watched as understanding crossed Eddie's face, then doubt, then panic, then incredibility. "Are you gay?!"
"No. I'm bisexual. I think. Robin introduced me to the word, and I feel like it fits me pretty well,” he shrugged.
Eddie stood before him, mouth gaping, eyes unblinking.
After a few seconds Steve started getting somewhat nervous. Most people - by that he meant Robin, because she was the only one that knew so far - had shown a reaction.
"Ed? Are- are you okay? Are we cool?" he waved his hand before the other guy's eyes, getting him to finally blink.

Summary
Now, even without Tommy, the clearing is easy enough to find and when he does, he sees Eddie there, as expected, and to Steve’s delight, there’s no one else with him.
He’s got his arms crossed on the table and his head burrowed in them as he presumably takes a nap. When Steve steps closer, he accidentally steps on a branch and the sound of it snapping in half startles a few birds and makes them take off from the trees. Eddie doesn’t react and Steve thinks that maybe he didn’t hear it or maybe he really is asleep, but when he takes another step, Eddie startles him by speaking without lifting his head up.
“We’re not open for business yet,” he says, voice rough and groggy. “So fuck off and come back later.”
“What if I’m not here to buy?” Steve asks and that’s when Eddie’s head snaps up, clearly surprised to hear his voice.
When his eyes find Steve, his whole face lights up with a ridiculously big smile.

“Munson, you better not be dealing in there, or so help me God, I will arrest you–”
His words cut off abruptly when he gets a look inside the van.
Because the kid isn’t dealing, he isn’t even smoking.
He’s straddling someone.

“There was a fire. At the mall. I worked there? At Scoops Ahoy.”
The way he says the last part sounds strange, like it’s really important somehow that Eddie believes him.
“Okay,” he says, then adds, “Is that why you look like that?”
Eddie’s never met a fire with fists, but he wants Steve to tell him what happened—not just assume.
There’s a beat of silence, like Steve’s weighing his options, and Eddie knows a lie’s coming before Steve even opens his mouth.
“Yeah. Building caved in. We made it out—Robin and I. Paramedics checked me over and said I couldn’t drive, so I decided to walk.”
Almost ten miles, Eddie estimates. Sure. Totally normal thing to do in the middle of the night, battered and bruised, after escaping a fire.
But he’s pretty sure that’s all he’s going to get, so he settles on, “Good thing I came along, then.”
“Yeah.”

Steve’s mouth hangs agape. Eddie can see a little of his tongue like that, pink and wet, and he looks away quickly.

There’s this one ASMR channel that Eddie’s absolutely addicted to. There’s no discernible channel title, just two emojis: a baseball glove and the yellow sparkles. Eddie had stumbled across it a while ago in the recommended sidebar, and the channel is incredibly understated–-but wildly popular. Half a million subs with no captions under the videos, no text anywhere really; just a pair of beautiful, adorned hands, and incredible scrapbook work.
Then, Eddie starts to actually read the comments under the videos, and realizes the discourse that's been happening in regards to this scrapbooker: who are they?
And what seems to be most important to the viewers: what gender are they?
All Eddie knows is that the hands are just as beautiful as the art they make. When they strike up a penpalship, things get deeper and more complicated than Eddie could have guessed--and when he unexpectedly falls for the scrapbooker, he knows he's past the point of no return. There's only one thing left to do:

He was supposed to make a graceful transition between being the golden boy and being the American Dream.
Mediocrity was what destiny had designed for Steve. Reality had other plans.

Over the course of his impromptu, and most unprecedented sojourn, Steve was forced to come to the conclusion that there were, in fact, no possible comfortable positions to be had when you were 5 '11 and stuffed in the cold, unforgiving depths of your own high school locker.
Fucking fantastic.
Or, Steve keeps finding himself in small, dark spaces and well, it's just getting embarrassing at this point.

He had gone through the whole attracted-also-to-men crisis in the years before, so even though he still hadn’t managed to tell Robin, or even find the courage to say the words to describe himself aloud, the attraction wasn’t a surprise. It had occurred to him when Jonathan had won over Nancy that while he was mostly jealous of Jonathan because he was pretty sure some part of him would always love Nancy, orbiting back to her at any given opportunity, sometimes he was jealous of Nancy, of the way she let Jonathan kiss her, his big hands resting on her face, and actually, in retrospect, the whole hand thing should have become apparent to him way earlier than it had.
All that to say, Steve was well aware he was attracted to Eddie and occasionally dreamt about sucking on Eddie’s fingers, but it didn’t have to mean anything, and moreover, couldn’t. The whole thing with El and the Upside Down derailed his life, but eventually he was going to get his shit back together and back on track, and he couldn’t be doing that and also bringing men home on the weekends.

There was a long pause in which Caitlyn sat twiddling her thumbs, anxiety pushing the frantic pulse of her heartbeat through her eardrums. Was that wrong? Did she already fuck up? She took a steady deep breath, finger hovering over the talk button until the familiar voice of the astronaut came through her headset once more.
“Damn, Houston. I didn’t expect you to sound so sexy.”

Caitlyn has been assigned as the personal capcom to one of the astronauts currently on a year long expedition at the international space station. Cue long months of pining and desperate longing.
