Summary
“I get that.” Dennis tilted his head, staring at himself in the reflection of his drink as Santos took an especially noisy sip of hers. “I kinda feel the same way? Like my relationship with my last name is sorta complicated, mostly because of my parents and -”
“Shut the fuck up.”
He paused for a moment, then winced like she had punched him. “Yeah. Alright. Huckleberry, shutting the fuck up.”
“No, I - shit, sorry, I wasn’t trying to - I will gladly listen to you rant about your parents whenever you want, but - but Mel just walked into the bar. With Dr. Fucking Langdon.”
The relief lasted only a second before the meaning of her words registered - Mel and Dr. Langdon - and he was cranking around in his seat to take a look. “What? Where?”

“We think this may be a..”, Princess lowered her voice even further, “-huh..my boyfriend who lives in Canada situation.”
“I don’t follow,” Samira said dubiously.
“no one has seen the guy around-,
“-says they don’t have any pictures together because he is private,” Princess continues, looking at her meaningfully.
“Oh. Oh my God, you think she is making it up?” Her voice goes way over this conversation's acceptable volume.
Cassie winces.
“I don’t think she meant to do it”, she explains.
“Chad came up again, so we started talking about relationships and Mel got roped into it. I think she wanted to get us off her back but when Santos doubled down, I guess she felt like she had to save face..?”

Summary
A record-breaking snowfall in the city of Pittsburgh forces the day shift crew of the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center to take refuge on the eighth floor. Which, Mel figures, could always be worse. Except for the fact that she didn't plan for this and has no change of clothes, no snacks, and no idea how she's going to keep herself entertained in a stuffy hospital room for the foreseeable future.
Enter Frank Langdon, the man with a plan to make Mel's night slightly less miserable.
Mel wonders how much longer she can continue to push her ever-growing feelings for her coworker aside.

Summary
"So are you a Survivor superfan?" He asks—be normal Frank, be normal—walking toward some rocks at the far end of the beach.
"Huge," Mel says with a wide smile. "What about you?"
"Me, not really," Frank admits. "I watched a few seasons here and there," —one season, if he's honest— "and I auditioned just for fun," —he hadn't even known that Theo had sent in that stupid video— "and now here I am."
"Here you are," Mel echoes and Frank finds himself a little lost in the melody of her voice. It's lower than maybe he would expect, but the flow of it is an easy rhythm, a pleasing melody.
Entrancing.
"Here we are." Finds it necessary to add on, and the smile that blooms on Mel's face tells him he's said the right thing.
Fuck.
Or, the Survivor AU.

Summary
“Dr. Langdon?” Her voice comes out as little more than a croak.
“I thought we agreed I was Frank outside of the hospital,” he says, instinctively laying a hand on her forehead.
His hands are still a little cold from the frigid February evening, but he still has to fight not to let his eyebrows raise in alarm at the heat radiating from her flushed face.
“What are you doing in my bedroom?” Mel asks.

Summary
When you hear someone scream "GET DOWN. NOW!" Followed by a gunshot, what would your first response be?
The logical and correct answer is to follow the person's order and wait for the authorities, praying to God someone was able to press the 911 button at the charge desk.
The less logical and very incorrect answer is to act on impulse and use the ten-blade in your hand as a weapon.
Mel chooses the latter.

Summary
“Picture this,” Santos said, setting the proverbial scene by holding her fingers out in two L-shapes before them. She closed one eye in concentration as she continued, “The Scooby Doo gang. Whitaker as Scooby, me as Fred, you as Shaggy—”
Frank had given her a deadpan look. “Because he’s a stoner?”
Santos rolled her eyes as she dropped her arms. “Wow, fixate much? How about instead of focusing on that,” she had said, though she had pointedly avoided his gaze after, “why don’t you think about the fact that it would mean Mel is going to be Velma?”
or: the gang goes to a Halloween party, and Frank realizes (for the millionth time) how blessed he is to be Melissa King’s boyfriend.
