“Who pissed you off?” Akira asked quietly, barely reacting to the touch. “I’m sure I can convince Ryuji to break a bone or two if it comes down to it. Especially when you’re this upset. I’ve never seen you shaken up so badly.”
Instead of pressing any further upon receiving nothing but silence, Akira shrugged, releasing a quiet sigh. Goro felt a hand running through his hair, tugging stray strands behind his ears before picking just a single one to twirl around his finger; and when Goro made the mistake of looking up, he witnessed a crooked, gentle smile spreading across Akira’s face.
“Maybe it’s even time for murder, what do you say?”
Or: Goro gets upset. Akira is there to comfort him. And things could be rather easy if it wasn't for the fact that they're fake dating and Goro can't be sure of what's real and what's not.

“Why would I do that?” Goro raises an eyebrow.
A shrug. “You look like you’re going to bolt.”
Huh. Goro hadn’t realized that. He’s not—nothing about him was made to heal or help. His bedside manner is, in fact, terrible. But he’s also not going to storm back downstairs and leave Ren to wallow alone.

He’d consider it pathetic, if only he wasn’t so morbidly curious as to what kind of degenerate had the misfortune of being his soulmate.

He mulls over it for a few seconds, flexes his fingers around the frame of Akira’s glasses that have been sitting obediently on his chest since the moment he’d stolen them.
Darling.
Goro himself isn’t as embarrassed as he thought he’d be - probably because Akira teased and called him honey plenty of times beforehand. It’s only inevitable that he’d retaliate at some point in time, his pride unable to bear such one sided teasing.

But Ren carefully puts a warm hand on his back and bends down. Slowly, he slides a hand under Goro’s knees and scoops him up from the ground and into his arms.

It’s during this walk that he sees it: a cheesy magazine targeted towards young women at the entrance of a tiny bookshop. On the cover the title '10 signs you’re with the right person' shines in glittery pink.
Goro is with no 'person'. He is with rival, though. Perhaps this magazine will shed some insight into why Ren has decided to leave him for five days. Does he not care about their rivalry? Goro can’t properly map out his plans to top Ren 一as in, win一 if he leaves for five days. That’s five days in which he can’t analyse every single reply Ren gives to Goro’s questions, or every mannerism he has, or every lock of hair on his head. So how is Goro meant to be a good rival? How is he meant to top Ren if Ren isn’t there to be topped?
He buys the magazine.
