Ghosts of the past haunting him through the halls of his mind isn't anything new for Armand. They come and they go, only temporarily, momentarily here yet never without an inclination to return once they feel they have been gone for too long. It happens with Padre, with the faces in the Palazzo, with ones in the brothel too, though not as often. But now, after a lifetime without him, Armand finds himself thinking of a flame that flickers yet never dims enough for him to be left in the dark. Strands of gold between his fingers and a playful smirk framing fangs of iron clashing against his in a way he hasn't been able to feel for so long.

Looking back, Harry can differentiate the stages of it. It started with conscious eating, with trying to know exactly what was in his food and not wanting to put garbage into his body. Gradually, he started to work out more. And then came the restricting, where he slowly reeled back on carbs and fatty foods and sugar. But it wasn't too bad yet. All it was was thinking extra hard about his food choices and avoiding certain things. It was okay.
