“Can't promise that I'm any good at this.”
Sam pushes Edgar up straight against the back of the chair, trying to keep him still because every shake made the legs teeter on the bathroom floor’s tiles.
“I have my faith in you, for this hour.”
Sam gives Edgar a haircut.

The real two conclusions that hit Teddy that night were the following: one, Vern Tessio might've been the smartest guy he knew, and two, him and Ace were closer than he thought.

Summary
Vern rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, "why'd you wake me up?"
"I don't know, I just need to get something off my chest. Shit that's driving me crazy."
"You're already crazy," Vern says, waiting for a hard punch against his shoulder, or even just a fake offended gasp. Duchamp doesn't respond at all, she just lays down and looks up at the ceiling, thinking. The dumb smile on Vern's face morphs into a small frown, he never saw Duchamp do any thinking.
"Jeez... how long have you been awake?"
There was no response to that question.
"I don't think I wanna be a girl anymore."

Summary
‘There it is,’ the brunet snaps his head back in place as if he were a soldier. Sam's tone of voice resembles a sleazy salesman in a wool suit on TV. ‘There it is, he wants something from you.’
“See, for my project, it's not very original, but I gotta choose someone in my life and make a home movie all about them.” As Sam explains, he widens his sapphire eyes, looking up at Edgar like he's one of the sad, stray, young dogs that would walk the boardwalk streets, “And I don't think you're like Molly Ringwald or Michael Fox or anything… but you make a pretty interesting character yourself.”
A fic where Sam joins the film club at his school and starts following Edgar around with his camera, much to his annoyance.

Summary
Star looks out at the dark horizon, out where the Pacific meets the starry night sky. Hudson’s Bluff looms above her, there to darken the skyline, and it always will be, in more ways than one.
Someday she’ll return to the depths of the cavern. She knows it. She feels it calling in the core of her bones.
Tonight, she just heads home. Maria is waiting, probably with another new release to pop into the VCR, and Chinese takeout that isn’t worms or maggots.
