Summary
In room 1410, Ilya Rozanov is ready to walk out the door after successfully getting his 19 year old hockey rival into bed. He knew how to make this moment happen and he knows what they have to be to each other now that it's over. But as he turns the doorknob to leave, he's stopped with questions he never expected. And giving Shane Hollander what he needs in that moment will change everything.
There's a lot of explicit content but I try to note which chapters are SFW vs NFSW.
Covers the first two years of their rookie seasons (which is mostly skipped over in the show/books). Canon divergent from the first hookup seen in HR s01ep01. Most things are from the show but the timeline is a mix of both; Hunter and Marleau are aged up per the show instead of as young as they are in the books. (Also, Shane and Ilya don't wait *two years*, they stick to the book timeline. IYKYK.)

Summary
“I want you in my hotel room tonight,” Ilya says, satisfied when Hollander’s pupils dilate in response. “I want to take you apart, slowly. Until you’re begging for it.”
“Fuck off, asshole,” Hollander breathes out, but the look in his eyes says yes and more please. “You can’t just come back here and–”
Just as Ilya is about to lean down and kiss the next words out of Hollander’s mouth, a buzzing sound startles them both. He glances down to see Hollander’s phone vibrating on the countertop with a text notification from someone named Matty.
In an alternate timeline, Shane resolves to move on after Sochi. When he and Ilya reunite for the MLH Awards in Vegas, Ilya takes the news of Shane's new "friend" about as well as you'd expect.

He closes his eyes and tries not to think about Rozanov or the way Shane’s entire body lit up like a live wire when he said in that low, accented voice, only if you ask nicely. He’s hard in his penguin print pajama pants and now he’s going to have to jerk off and shower before he can sleep. While trying not to think about his asshole neighbor.
This is bad. This is very bad.

Ilya's heart stuttered at the last clip. A video of hands toasting beer bottles. The camera rose and panned the hotel bar, swinging to Harris’s boyfriend and…Shane Hollander. Shane Hollander, in the same light blue shirt that Ilya had seen dashing around a street corner a few hours ago. Shane Hollander, a little rumpled, adorably jet-lagged, drinking at a hotel bar that Harris had conveniently tagged. Ilya knew, he just knew what he'd find when he clicked on the location. The back of his neck was buzzing, a bizarre intuition thrumming in him.
The location opened, and Ilya had to bite back a laugh. Shane Hollander was in Hanoi, only a few minutes away from him.

Shane should be here right now, should be in Ilya’s house. Ilya should be teasing him about being picky while going through delivery options for food on his phone. Shane should be discovering that Ilya has ginger ale in the fridge and the protein bars Shane mentioned liking in an interview in his pantry. He should be making out with Shane on the couch, sneaking a hand into his pants, teasing him about whether they can beat the deliveryman and arrive before he does. Shane was supposed to spend the night tonight, the Montreal team not set to leave until tomorrow afternoon because of potential bad weather in the morning. Shane should be fed and showered and ready to curl up in bed with Ilya tonight.
But Shane is in a hospital.And Ilya is here.
He pulls up Jane in his phone again. He presses call.
“Hey, you’ve reached Shane Hollander-”
Ilya closes his eyes and lets Shane’s voice roll over him.
