“Have you been lying in wait to ask me that all day?” Lan Zhan interrupts to ask. “Also: no. Do not dig Yanli a pond.”
“Why not?” Jin Zixuan says. “Don’t you think it’s a good idea? Yanli’s always saying how much she misses the lake near her parents’ house—it would be a little piece of home!”
Lan Zhan thinks of Wei Ying. He wonders if Wei Ying misses the lake too. Whether he might like a pond.

Jin Zixuan is hopeless when he has a crush. It turns out that Lan Zhan is even worse.

Wei Wuxian comes back to the Cloud Recesses for the winter months. He and Lan Wangji learn that emotional intimacy and physical intimacy are not (yet) quite synonymous.

He never asks for a refill, always respectfully gathers his things and leaves ten minutes before the shop officially closes. Eric desperately wants to ask him what his story is.
