Summary
“How romantic,” Sethos cooed, stifling a laugh. “Let your boyfriend take you home, Kaveh. He’s so caring.”
Alhaitham used to think such comments were just harmless teasing. And yet, when Kaveh breaks up with him... Well. He realises he fucked up.

Summary
As the doors slid close, a hand calmly made its way into the elevator, causing them to slide open once again. A tall figure stepped in, clad in a well-adjusted suit and a backpack from which a novel was peeking out.
Kaveh’s jaw dropped as her gut filled with dread.
Alhaitham looked at her from between clipped silver bangs, and those eyes that Kaveh had seen dozens of times in her dreams looked the exact same as they had years before.
They stood in silence as the elevator dinged.

Summary
Alhaitham inhaled deeply before submerging his face, cursing himself for having seemingly abandoned his usual rationality. His eyes crinkled as he tried to open them.
Open them he did, and the sight was… dazzling. The siren was an undeniable beauty on land, with his hair stuck to the nape of his neck and droplets dotting his torso, but underwater, the swirl of a light current dancing through his hair and the shimmer of his jewelled eyes fully brought his features to life. Gorgeous, Alhaitham thought, and he didn’t realise his eyes were widened until they started to burn from the salt.

Summary
“What the fuck?”
“I don’t know.”
Two large, fluffy ears sat on top of Alhaitham’s head, in the same colour as his hair but dotted with black spots. And, peeking out from the hem of his sweatpants was the tip of a thick, furry, grey… tail.
“What the fuck?”“I don’t know,” Alhaitham repeated, crossing his arms. “Such exclamations aren’t specifically helpful to my situation.”
Even in the dimness of the too-early morning, it was clear that his newly-acquired ears flattened in distress as he spoke, much like those of a kitten.

Summary
It felt like a lifetime: Kaveh without Alhaitham seemed as inherently impossible as Alhaitham without Kaveh. It would have been intriguing to an onlooker, had their friendship been privy to anyone but Mehrak: the Crown Prince and a street artist fighting for scraps; the silent, stark line of Alhaitham’s lips and the bubbling laughter leaving Kaveh’s throat at every other moment; silver, carefully trimmed hair and a bloom of golden locks washing over bright freckled skin. Reason and emotion. Routine and invention. Complete opposites.
“Or, perhaps, reflections,” Alhaitham had suggested. “You cannot deny we are similar in many ways. True to our convictions, stubborn to a fault. Just opposite in what those convictions are.” He paused. “You are my perfect mirror.”
