Monaco belongs to Charles.
This is his home race, his people. Even on pole, Max feels almost claustrophobic surrounded by a devotion not meant for him; a devotion that he could never give.
Max tells himself it doesn't matter anymore, that whatever they had is gone. Still, the ache lingers, blooming behind his ribs whenever he catches a flash of red. He clings to control because it's the only thing keeping him steady. If he can just win this race, maybe he won't have to look too closely at what he lost.
Monaco, though...
Monaco doesn't let him forget. Monaco takes, and it keeps asking Max for a price he can't pay. Not today, and definitely not tomorrow.
If only he could make it to tomorrow.

And now, standing there, Gabi couldn’t deny it—even to himself—there was a certain… thrill. The way the outfit hugged him, how it accentuated the shape of his body, how the lace tickled and teased him. It was humiliating, yes, but it also made him hyper-aware, sensitized to his own skin in a way that was unknown to him.
“Wait.” Ollie’s eyes sparkled with a new, sinister idea. Gabi’s stomach sank.
“What?” he asked, already knowing he didn’t want to know.
“You said Nico’s room is opposite yours?” Ollie hopped off the bed, the grin spreading across his face like he’d just invented a new sport.
Or, after losing a bet, Gabi dresses up in pretty clothes and realizes he has a crush on his teammate.

"You tried to kill yourself," Lando said harshly. His heart was racketing against his ribs suddenly, some great pressure on his chest, aching and unyielding, and he couldn't breathe. "You tried to kill yourself, Oscar."
"That's not any of your business, or his," Oscar bit out.
"You made it my business," he carefully did not shout, "when you planned for me to find your body."
Oscar overdoses. They all live through the aftermath.

[A video taken from outside of the McLaren hospitality. There was some reflection on the glass, but the inside was still visible. Lando was clearly in his flamingo form just sort of standing there. The real point of interest was Oscar in his bunny form. He was running slow lopping circles around Lando.]

Oscar choked on a french fry, lightly patting his chest and grabbing his drink to wash it down. “Have you thought about the fact that he probably likes the area?”
“No! He goes there with a hoodie and a backpack, he’s probably on his way home or something! Could you imagine? Spiderman could actually live in the flats opposite us!” Lando exclaimed, turning his head to the window and he could slightly see the same building. The world now becoming suffocated by the increasing darkness, the sunset long gone.
Oscar pinched the bridge of his nose, “I think you’re reading into this way too much, mate.”
OR
Lando is obsessed with the friendly-neighbourhood Spiderman and Oscar is his good best friend that listens.

“I don’t know,” He finds himself staring at another picture. Max is laughing brightly, to the point where his eyes are crinkled, and his mother is smiling too. There is a navy cap on her head: it is a Red Bull cap. Max’s Red Bull cap. “It’s just hard to imagine, I think.”
Pascale looks at him. For a moment it is an odd look. But that quickly melts into a smile. One that is gentle around the eyes, and soft on the mouth. Somehow, it makes Charles feel young again — younger than how he already feels; twenty-one in a world where he is twenty-five.
“You don’t have to imagine it, mon garçon,” she says quietly. “It has already happened.”
