Before Astarion could register the pitiful jolt of arousal at the sudden skin contact or the sheer absurdity of what Gale was doing, Gale had stuck its fingers in its mouth.

“No new bacteria detected,” Gale went on, “Ruling out food poisoning.”
“Oh, Gods,” Astarion groaned. “And to think that these things are what’s sending our workforce into a tizzy. What next, 'droid? Are you about to give me a rectal examination too?”
“There is no need for one at the moment,” Gale said, confused. “Unless you are seeking prostate stimulation—”

Summary
It was almost a year ago that Gale had helped Astarion kill Cazador and helped him release the thousands of spawn Cazador had controlled, putting a stop the Rite of Profane Ascension. Astarion did not take Cazador's place. He did not take that power for himself. He did not transform into a bloodthirsty monster imbued with the dizzying, black-hearted power of seven thousand sacrificed souls.
Gale knows, of course, that they made the right decision.
But he did sometimes still think about it.

Most of the time when he went out like this, he had only a passing interest in whoever he ended up going home with. They were a good meal. Something to occupy the long, endless nights. Maybe a little pleasure, if they knew what they were doing. Content to let potential lovers come to him, Astarion rarely pursued anyone in particular. He hadn't wanted anyone in particular.

Gale nearly dropped all the books he was holding, head snapping over his shoulder to look at Astarion, as if making sure it was him saying that word, and not some devil over his shoulder. Which in this case, might as well be the case. Gale stared at him, mouth opening, then closing, then opening again, akin to a goldfish.
Oh, to see his wizened wizard, normally so calm and collected nowadays, lose all composure—Astarion’s grin widened.
“Watch it, Astarion,” Gale finally breathed out, voice low and husky, attempting to collect himself again, “You might just find yourself on the receiving end of this enhanced strength if you're not careful.”

"Who do you think lives in it?" Astarion asked, hoping to catch one last glimpse of the Tower as it began to dip behind the ridge. "I heard it’s some Wizard from Waterdeep...though what a Waterdhavian would be doing stomping around the Wilds outside Baldur’s Gate eludes me."
"Maybe he’s trying to get as far away from people as he can," the boy said, still rubbing his chest absently. "Maybe he heard the Wilds are as far as a person can get without falling prey to the Waste."
"Now why would he want to do that, hmm?" Astarion wondered. "Maybe we should go and ask him?”
"No!"
The boy’s vehemence surprised Astarion. He looked down—the boy was blushing at his outburst. "I mean, I hear he’s dangerous. He...he...he eats hearts!"
"He eats…hearts?” Astarion repeated, skeptical.
"Oh yes, very monstrously, no one should approach the Tower, everyone should give it the widest of berths," the boy babbled on.

The only issue is, Mr. Silverbough had completely alleviated Astarion's muscle pains several sessions ago... But the very handsome physical therapist doesn't need to know that.
Astarion is more than happy to continue playing the part of the "anguished dancer", so long as it keeps landing him on Halsin's work table.
