“Hello!” the interloper exclaimed, a bright smile coming into view as he lifted the sopping veils away to one side. “Would you happen to know how to reach the Cloud Recesses?”
Or, a teenage Wei Wuxian arrives at the Lan sect as a (mostly) respected disciple of the Immortal Baoshan Sanren instead of the well-known troublemaker of Yunmeng Jiang. Lan Wangji learns to come to terms with this (eventually).

His voice is hesitant, roughened by a night of silence and screams not his own. He looks at Wei Wuxian’s back, at the way his shoulders are drawn too tight, held together by sheer will alone.
“Are you… are you sure about this?”
Wei Wuxian does not answer immediately.
He is staring at the path leading down into the Burial Mounds, at the familiar twist of earth and stone that he could navigate blind, at the faint traces of resentful energy humming low and steady beneath the surface. This place has always answered him. Always opened its arms when the world shut its doors.
Now, it feels like standing on the edge of a wound.
“I’m sure,” he says finally.

“Thank you, ser padawan,” she said. The Queen’s voice adding an odd note of formality to the kind gesture.
The boy ducked his head, and Sabé could hear Eirtae’s wince. At this rate, he’d be lucky to make it to knighthood without back problems.
“N-not a padawan,” he murmured.
Sabé couldn’t hide the flicker of confusion, though fortunately the boy still hadn’t looked up from his intense scrutiny of the floor.
“Oh,” she replied. “I was under the impression that was the title typically given to a Jedi apprentice.” She chanced a look back at Rabé, who offered a nearly imperceptible shrug in response. Naboo might have been a bit isolationist in relation to the wider Republic, but even they knew what a Jedi padawan was.
As though confirming her thoughts, the pada—, the boy nodded. He still hadn’t glanced up, and she honestly wondered if something was on the floor to have capitvated his attention for so long. A quick look confirmed that no, it really was just a floor. A bit scuffed, but otherwise clean. No secrets of the galaxy tucked away between its durasteel plates.
“That’s correct, Y-your Highness,” he stammered. “But I-I’m not Master J-Jinn’s apprentice.”

Designation CC-2224, Marshal Commander Kote ‘Cody’, had always been a particularly good judge of character.
So, when he met his General for the 212th Attack Battalion, who immediately asked for his brother’s name not designation, he knew he would be a good General.
The General felt like a lake. Calm and painfully blue, but equally deep, and if Cody was one for dramatics, maybe a little mysterious.
However, Cody could also feel that the General was a liar. Intelligent and manipulative, caring but vicious, overt yet sly. He almost seemed like a politician. Cody reckoned he’d be pretty good at it.
Or, Cody is a Force sensitive empath and it changes the course of history.

Drawing on examples from Legends, canon, and games, I posit that the skills of a Jedi could be taught to adults/teenagers in a relatively short time. It’s the mastery of self that would take the most time, and ultimately why the late-modern Republic’s Jedi training started with children.
