Loki is thrown off by that. Most beings who know him well do not admire him. This person claims to do both. To know him and to like him. It is disturbing. He wants to frown but keeps his face controlled, regal. He calculates how fast he could choke the man with his own silly brown tie.

Even as Mike was saying the words he knew it was a mistake. There is no going back from something like that, but maybe that's what he wanted, that self destruction, a final fuck you to Harvey and the world at large. Intellectually and with the wisdom of distance Mike knows he should've done anything other than tell Rachel, that maybe his relationship with Harvey would've been salvageable had it not been for this one last thing. But now he knows that there is no way back from this.

It’s late at night on Asgard, and Loki is staring at himself from across the room. A younger him, who looks like he’s seen a ghost. Loki supposes he has. All he can do is smile at the steps taken backwards, at the hand reaching back into the knife sheath by his left thigh, at the same face glaring back at his own.
“Who are you?” his younger self asks, taking steps forward now, lifting his head in perfect regal posture. He schools the reactionary fear in his face into something cold and haughty, sneering disgust at Loki standing before him. “You’re not supposed to be here.”
Loki smiles, wistful. “I suppose not.”A post-s2 Loki visits Thor1! Loki and tells him it's going to be okay, but he's not going to get anything he thinks he wants.

Summary
Loki looks down and Mobius sees his throat move as he swallows around the pain of what he has to stay. “I need to go now.”
Mobius tightens his grip on Loki’s forearms, wants to rail against it, to refuse to let him go. But he knows he can’t. Or he could, but it would make no difference. Loki has to do this and is committed to, that is clear from every line of him: resolve and resignation in equal parts.
So instead, Mobius wraps Loki in his arms once more, this less crushing embrace and more holding hug, and says, “Just come back.”
Loki squeezes him once, whispers, “I will,” close to his ear, and then he’s gone, Mobius left holding onto nothing.
A year's worth of time passes before Mobius sees Loki again.

Summary
The knots in Mobius’s stomach relax then tighten again, more painful and needy than ever before. The hunger surges through him, rushing him forward, eager to grab and hold and keep. His hand flexes slightly, cupping Loki’s chin properly. The other one comes up to trace a shadow of a touch down his throat with his thumb.
“Are you sure?” He asks, trying and failing to keep the strain out of his voice. Loki smiles at him again, all teeth and starlight and honesty.
“Mobius,” his voice is smooth, his eyes deep and dark, “there is nothing you would do to hurt me. I trust you wholeheartedly on that.”

Mobius needs to be sure Loki won't disappear again. Loki knows something that might help them both.
