[M/n] had allowed himself to believe that misfortune had finally loosened its grip after Batman delivered his cold rejection on that ill-fated night. Unfortunately, trouble had not departed; it had merely altered its approach, arriving now in the disarming form of the charming, airy, and infuriatingly frivolous Bruce Wayne.
“I think sausages should just be called hotdogs since they basically taste the same,” Bruce remarked casually from beside him, taking an enthusiastic bite of the hotdog in question as though he had not just uttered complete nonsense.
“Excuse me?” [M/n] turned slowly, his expression turning into open disbelief as he studied the billionaire’s face for signs of head trauma. Surely no man of reasonable intelligence would say such slander.
Bruce blinked at him with feigned innocence. “I said, I think sausages should—”
“I heard what you said, Mr. Wayne. I heard it perfectly clear,” [M/n] interrupted, his tone tightening despite his effort to remain composed. “What I am struggling to comprehend is the reasoning behind your statement. What are your basis for concluding that two distinctly prepared and seasoned foods deserve identical classification?”

You’d been on plenty of watches in the rain, knew how to keep your footing while leaping from rooftop to rooftop. This was Gotham, after all–the city had its own kind of plot armor, keeping the streets as sullen as humanly possible. To have a patrol without rain was to have coffee without sugar.
Tonight, though, you were flying solo. Bruce would’ve permanently benched you if he knew, but honestly… whatever. You’d solved cases on your own before, tailed bad guys, peeked at the cams. How different could it be? You could *see* Bruce from where you were anyways. It was a little harmless shadowing, what he didn’t know couldn’t hurt him. You’d slip back into the manor before they started to head back. Besides, the team was still nearby, somewhere in the shadows.

When you get accepted into the nation's top academy to better understand your quirk, you hope it will bring the answers you've been looking for in life. As an adopted eighteen year old with no memory from before the age of six, the questions of your past aren't at the top of the list of things you think you'll discover at college. You're the child of a semi-retired, formerly top-ranked pro hero, and thus are ahead of the curve in terms of combat and fighting experience. However, it becomes apparent that your skills will only give you an edge against your classmates for a short amount of time.
When recurring and seemingly precognitive nightmares begin plaguing you during the night and you start developing a strange tingling sense for oncoming danger, your new workload is heavier than expected. Once villains also launch their campaign against hero society, suddenly, attending the academy is a lot more than you were prepared for. Answers are what you need, and you're forced to realize that uncovering your past is a much higher priority.Will you find the answers in time, or will your sanity come undone before you can save everyone that you care about?
