“Thank you so much for the help,” he says, pushing himself back up to stand. The young man follows along, still smiling like the kind of person who always sees the best in everything - or tries to, at least. Sometimes Chan wishes he could be like that, too.
“You’re very welcome,” the young man says, his warm brown eyes earning a golden sheen from the sunlight shining right into them. “Can I have your name?”
Perhaps foolishly, Chan says: “Oh, sure, it’s Chan.” He dips into a bow. “It’s nice to meet you.”
When he straightens back up, the young man is gone.
And so, Chris finds out half an hour later when he makes it to class, is his name.

Summary
Being married to Bang Chan, oldest son of the Bang family and heir to the Bang corporation, probably sounds like a great idea to many people. It sounded like a great idea to Minho as well. Theoretically. On paper.
The reality is much less appealing. Or that is to say; the reality is exactly what it promised to be. A luxury apartment, a luxury lifestyle, a hot husband to show off at luxury parties, anything and everything that money can buy. It’s the perfect arrangement.
Or it was. Originally. Before Minho had to go and develop feelings.
Like an idiot.

“I probably don’t say it often enough. You mean a lot to me. All seven of you. We’ve shared so many moments together it’s hard to imagine a life without you guys in it.” Maybe this is too much now, but Hyunjin’s never been able to stop his mind from spinning quite so easily once it was put in motion. “I guess sometimes I just feel so different from all of you. Like it doesn’t come as easy to me as it does to you guys.”
“What doesn’t?” Jeongin asks, seeming confused.
It makes Hyunjin shy, in a way, to know that he’s really listening, that he’s trying to understand. He breathes out a sheepish little smile. “Friendship, I guess. Talking. Human interaction. Feeling like I belong. All of it.”

Lino shows up just an hour before Tohile’s ports close, cutting it dangerously short. Not only that but he doesn’t show up alone. When Changbin lets down the ramp to allow entry to their new passenger, Chan comes face to face with six large chests, Lino himself wrapped in fancy drapes and an equally stunning man flanking his left. This man’s eyes are lined with black kohl, his lips tinted a little darker and his figure tall but slender.
Chan barely spares him a glance before looking at Lino. “Extra cargo is going to cost you more. We didn’t plan rations for two extra people.”
He sees the other man shift in his periphery while Lino’s smile once again widens into something equal parts beautiful and dangerous. “That’s alright,” the companion says, motioning a hand at the chests. “We brought enough to feed ourselves. We won’t force you to starve.”

Summary
Jisung’s eyes focus slowly. He blinks and then he looks at Minho. Really looks at him. The next second he looks away again. “She called you dad,” he says. Minho’s not sure if it’s just a statement or an accusation. The silence between them lingers briefly as he’s unable to reply. Jisung’s gaze comes up to his face again, searching. “She called you dad, Minho,” he repeats and Minho hums.
“Well, you were already ‘uncle’,” he offers, trying not to make it hurt, even if he has no idea what would hurt Jisung. “It’d be weird for her to change that, probably.”

“Do you know why I broke up with you?”
Jisung’s voice is soft. With his eyes closed, Minho can almost imagine they’re curled up together, sharing the warmth of one blanket and intending to stay that way all through the night. Jisung’s words belie the scene, of course. It hasn’t been that way in a long time now. The only reason Jisung’s in the bed with him at all is because the couch isn’t wide enough for a person to sleep on. The reason Jisung’s in his house is because no one else was available.
No one but his ex-boyfriend, who broke up with him after a particularly strange fight that he never really did manage to understand.

This is one of the first and biggest things Jeongin had to get used to. Chan is just so very Chan. That’s the only way to describe him, too, because Jeongin has never met anyone who is even remotely like the man.

Summary
When you get in a Jaeger, you can’t lose yourself in the memories. You have to go into the drift with a clear, open mind and let the flashes of memories pass you by. You can’t chase the rabbit, you can’t get so caught up in a memory it takes you along for a ride. You have to stay focused on the goal, which is to meld together not just with your copilot, but with your Jaeger as well.
Seungmin knows this, because he’s done it many, many times before. His trainee score was forty drops, thirty-nine kills for a reason. His actual score to this day is twenty drops, twenty-one kills.

Summary
In the grand scheme of things, one person probably isn’t that important. There’s billions of people, after all, and each of them with their own unique thoughts and choices that will all carve out the future in a certain way. Some have more impact, some have less. As a collective, sure, humans are important and they make an incredible difference (whether good or bad, he’ll leave that in the middle). But one person?
Anyway, Changbin isn’t here to philosophically ponder the worth of men. It’s just that– Well.
Bang Chan is really fucking important, if you ask him.

“I’m taking the rest of the week off.”
The words, partly spoken (or groaned, rather) into his collarbone, don’t entirely come as a surprise. They went for dinner at his mother’s house on Christmas Eve, then went out for their yearly tradition of eating donuts for Christmas around lunch and ended festivities by attending the Christmas party at Minho and Hyunjin’s house with all of their other friends present.

Today’s the day.
He’s been putting it off for a while now, subdued by other people claiming it’s something he can’t do (preposterous), that he’s too big (he’s on a healthy diet with lots of fish these days) or that it’s dangerous (he’s a grown man, he knows what he’s doing). But he will let them stop him no longer! He’s his own person, he’s all grown now, so screw what other people say, he knows he can do this and he’s been wanting to forever, so why not?

Jeongin’s head shoots up from where he was focused on reading the preparation method of their dinner at the startled sound from Minho’s mouth. “Hyung?” He inquires, worried for Minho first, but at the prolonged silence for his other friends as well. “Hyungs?”

“This is terrible.”
Hyunjin’s head pops up to see Jisung leaning on the handle of his shovel, sulkily looking out at the rest of the driveway they still have to clear. They’re nowhere near done even if they’ve already cleared quite a big part of it, but Hyunjin can’t say he minds the work much. It’s therapeutic in a way, focusing on nothing but the shovel, the rhythmic motion of scooping and throwing aside, scooping and throwing aside.

From the moment a malnourished pup had jogged into his temporary den, curled itself up against his side, pushed its little head up against him and licked at his muzzle until he started grooming it back, Chan had known that he was going to have a pack. Because one night into meeting Jisung, he’d been certain that he could never leave the feisty pup’s wellbeing up to some other wolf’s decisions.
Then Jisung had gone and found Jeongin, even tinier, even feistier and even less possible to let someone else decide over, so Chan’s fate was properly sealed.

Summary
His peace is disturbed by a knock on his door, a few raps in quick succession. There’s a pause and then his door is pushed open. When he glances up from his spot on the bed, it’s to see Hyunjin walking in. Felix probably let him inside of the apartment, though Jisung’s surprised that he didn’t get a message first.
Rather than speak, Hyunjin just drops his bag at the door, kicks it closed again behind him and trudges on towards the bed. Their eyes only briefly meet, but Hyunjin’s expression is shuttered off, clearly not wanting to talk. So Jisung keeps quiet, only waits long enough for Hyunjin to take off his sweater and pants before lifting the blanket and allowing him to crawl under it as well.
They slot together like puzzle pieces only seconds later, Hyunjin’s leg slipping between his and his friend’s head being tucked away into the crook of his shoulder. He adjusts without speaking, rolling a little more onto his side, switching his phone to his other hand and tilting his head just so that Hyunjin will still be able to breathe even if he’s curled away like this. As the blanket settles back down around the both of them, he turns his gaze back to his phone, resuming the video he was watching.

There’s a boy at the corner store. There’s a boy at the corner store and Changbin knows his face well. Sharp lines, sharp eyes, an almost-glare every time he looks up from his work. He scans the items, tells you the amount and accepts your payment with a full total of maybe five words exchanged.
There’s a boy at the corner store, and in his dreams, Changbin walks in a pink muhly field and watches his bright, wide smile take the almost shape of a heart, eyes shining with his joy, hands reached out to someone he can only hope is Changbin himself.
