But Jax could handle it.

After being saved from abstraction by Pomni, Jax begins to avoid her out of fear. That is—until he is forced to spend time with her during their adventures. Of course, nothing a little bit of stupid sauce can't fix… right?

Summary
Giving Jax what he wanted wasn't satisfying.
Ever.
He always pushed the limits. Always took things one step too far. Whenever something went Jax's way, that wasn't good. If anything, that was a worst case scenario with a rabbit avatar at the scene of the crime to cement it.
Pomni, evidently, didn't want to give Jax what he thought he wanted.
What if Pomni had shot Jax?

“Playing with Ragatha’s hair,” Pomni returned simply, grabbing a plastic brush sitting on the couch cushion by her hip and sidling over to take Gangle’s place.
“I can see that,” Jax returned impatiently, even as his eyes couldn’t help but to be drawn to the repetitive motion of the brush as it passed through Ragatha’s woolen ringlets, watching dispassionately as the tight crimson coils unspooled beneath the weight of the bristles only to sproing back into place after Pomni pulled the brush away to begin the whole process anew. “Why are you doing it?”

Summary
"We were so worried, we heard you—" Ragatha starts, and then looks up. She meets Jax's gaze dead-on, and goes silent. Tears brim in the corner of her eye. Her hand flies up to cover her mouth. He can't tell if the look on her face is relief or fear.
Gangle's staring at him like she's seen a ghost. Pomni slowly raises to her feet, brows furrowed. She winces as every movement jars her wavering form.
Cowered on the floor, panting, confused and disoriented, with everyone standing above him, taller than him… it reminds Jax of something deeply unpleasant. They're all staring at him. They're all seeing him.
Jax knows they're not going to like what they see.
His breath quickens until his head is spinning, and he feels like he's going to vomit. He forces himself upwards with a frustrated cry, swaying in place, and then turns and bolts towards his room as fast as he can.
"NO!" Pomni screams.
(or: pomni pulls jax back from the brink.)

Summary
“Wait!” she blurts out.
Her exclamation catches the jester at the halfway point, prompting her to turn around.
She continues, “I-I changed my mind. I’ll go with Jax. You can go with Kinger.”
“Are you sure?” Pomni asks, eyebrows furrowing. “You don’t have to force yourself. I can handle him just fine.”
Of course she’s doubtful, Ragatha already showed her true feelings in her initial reaction to being paired with the bunny. It isn’t going to be a pleasant arrangement for herself or Jax. That much is obvious. Still, it’s a small sacrifice to make if it means keeping Pomni away from his negative influence.
“I’m sure. Maybe this can help us get along!” she smiles, though it feels more like a grimace.
A 'what if' scenario where Ragatha partners up with Jax for the gun adventure.

Jax’s mouth twitched, one corner curling upward for just a moment.
“Yeah. I could’ve.” He closed the remaining space, his gloved hand settling lightly on her waist from behind. The warmth of his touch seeped through the fabric. “But then I’d have to admit I’ve been staring at you in that thing for the last hour like a moron.”
Ragatha exhaled a shaky little laugh, relief washing through her.
“Well, that's... unexpected,” a shy smile bloomed on her lips.

"Jax, look out!"
At Pomni's scream, he looks back at the road just in time, jerking the wheel hard to avoid ramming right into another light pole. Consequently, he has to take the car off the street to avoid it, knocking them both forward in their seats as the car jumps up over a curb and dumps them on top of the sandy shore. God, get Pomni out of here.

Some studies suggest that heightened emotions, such as fear and excitement, can lead to increased attraction. Even in the Circus.
Or: the cast members get dropped into a GTA knockoff for today’s adventure. Unfortunately, Pomni gets paired up with Jax, and chaos ensues.
